  1. I stand waaaaaaay freakin' corrected! The update for iPhone is on its way to the app store. Enjoy! iPhone update: app with updated specifications and new tone generation algorithm is available now in the iTunes app store. (For those interested, play a tone before updating and listen for little clicks. After update the tone should be smoother)
  2. Update Android: app with updated specifications and new tone generation algorithm is available now on the Android Market. (For those interested, play a tone before updating and listen for little clicks. After update the tone should be smoother) iPhone: the update is pending app review (4-6 days). Also if you have iOS version 4.0 or 4.1, this update will fix the problem with crashing on startup.
  3. The dsp for the app tones has been retooled to reflect these specifications and/or act more closely like the rm. Also the dsp has been changed to remove some of the artifacts caused by tone generation. These updates will be available in a few days for iphone and tonight for android. -james
  4. That is true. Still, as related to the remote, the choice of on/off is inherently less complex than the choice among 256 frequencies.
  5. Larry and DT, Very interesting regarding the specs of the tones. When I recorded the tones to analyse originally, the two tones seemed to be at different levels, so I had the iPhone generate them as such. Also I used 2200 Hz and 2000 Hz for the two tones. I will change the app to reflect those specifications and test it of course to make sure it works. Perhaps that will make my generated tones more reliable. All tones including SLEEP and UNSLEEP are generated by the app. But they are somewhat less complicated sequences. They may be inherently easier to decode by the transmitter. Sincerely, James
  6. Nothing about blocks 19 and 20 indicate that there are disabled channels. This week I will take a visit to prosound as they have given me permission to use their transmitters for testing. In the meantime, if you can duplicate the issue, I would appreciate some information: the channels that do not work, if there are channels in the same transmitter that do work, and if there are any conditions which change the remote's effectiveness. Thank you, James
  7. Marc, what frequency were you trying to set? It occurred to me yesterday that block 23, TV channel 37 is off limits in the US and may be disabled in the transmitter. I apologize for the situation that must have been, but we'll work through it for everyone's benefit. Thanks, James
  8. While I'm not familiar with C#, I do know that it is similar to Java and Objective-C in many ways. But I'd still have to learn the apis required for the platform. And I'm not at all familiar with .net in general. And I don't even know what the general look and feel of Windows Phone is like to properly utilize the built in gui controls. Plus I'd still have to set up the development environment for it, as well as purchase a device to test it on (despite having emulators) and learn their app store system. Mostly, I just don't want to promise anything and make people wait months to a year to make good on it. But I am looking into it. As well as looking into the blackberry platform James
  9. Update Android users: Volume reset and Tone Played on Volume Change can now be enabled or disabled in the Settings page
  10. App store on your device should have a little notifications icon with a number for the apps that can be updated. Alternatively if you go back to the LectroRM page in itunes on your computer the "Buy Now" button should be replaced with an update button. Then it will update next time you sync. James
  11. iPhone update: the app no longer responds to the silence switch. Enjoy! James
  12. Thanks, Derek! I am happy to take into consideration any criticisms that people have. I do after all want this to be the definitive app for this purpose. Once I feel comfortable that it is at that point, I'll move on to my next app Affirmative: block and frequency choice do not affect the tone. Only the hex code matters. Presets for Android are not going anywhere. I programmed in purposefully to set the volume to zero when the app appears on screen as a safety measure. I figured the volume slider was easy enough to use that people could flip it up when they start the app, and it plays a sample tone while sliding so you know how loud the control tone will be. I suppose I could put a preference in to give people the choice to keep it from reseting to mute. James
  13. Opinion: Is the quietest setting on the app still too loud?
  14. I am not sure what you mean, Richard. The presets should be able to store any selected block and frequency. The Preset feature is meant to allow people to keep a record of their settings for their transmitters. I usually keep all of my channels in the presets and when I need to change a frequency on a transmitter, I do it under Default Preset so that I can go back to the original channel later. -James
  15. Hey Android users out there, couple quick questions for you. Got my first comment on the android market saying that a page interface (like the one on iphone) would be preferable. I chose to go with one page because it would've been trickier to make an intuitive multipage interface with the Presets feature. Question 1: I know it's early, but does anyone use the Presets feature? Question 2: Who else would prefer a multipage interface?
  16. I hadn't thought about WP7 but let me look into it.
  17. Update for iPhone users: the aforementioned blocks have been added and will go live in the next hour. Need to keep apple app reviews busy, having tones play without unsilencing your iphone ringer is next...
  18. Update for Android users: By default the program will use ordinary apis to route audio to the speaker. On some devices, the routing apis do not work unless "In Call" audio mode is used. To force "In Call" mode to be used, go to Menu->Settings and select "Force Route To Speaker". This option does not work on all devices. -James
  19. There are major fragmentation issues when it comes to Android OS. Every phone is different when it comes to certain settings. Droid X does not seem to like the setting I used to route audio to the speaker. Thankfully I can programmatically select settings based on their make and model. I'll take care of you Jobo, by refund if not by fixing the problem. Try the update I just posted and let me know if it works. -James
  20. Richard, Please update your version of the app on the Android market and tell me if this solves your issue. My phone doesn't act the same way with my bluetooth headset, so I can't test it. However, I was able to route audio to the speaker instead of the headphone jack when headphones are plugged in (for security's sake, to make it harder to amplify the remote tone). I think it should keep the tone out of your ear as well. Let me know. -James
  21. Thank you so much, Larry. That will go into the app description when this upcoming update is released. I do also intend on putting a short instruction page in the app as well. I'm working on the ringer concerns at the moment. Seriously though, I and everyone else here, I'm sure, really appreciates your support for the application. Many thanks, James
  22. I will look into that. The android app does it, as well as a few other things that I'd like to have in the iphone app. Specifically: press and hold to activate; reset volume to low on load; and play a tone when the volume slider moves to test the volume before activating. But I'm more familiar with the Android operating system. I will work on it. Next update, fyi, is already pending app review and adds the extra blocks (470, 606, 944, & 29-33). Should go live by the end of next weekend. -James
  23. I will also add blocks 29-33 and 606 for the Euro transmitters.
  24. Blocks 19, 944, & 470 have been added to the android app. I will add 944 & 470 to the iphone app soon. It takes longer to post updates to the apple app store. In the meantime, the block and frequency don't affect the control signal. Those blocks should respond to the hex codes of any other block. James LaFarge
  25. RP, I appreciate very much your support for my app, but I don't disagree with the price of the RM. Of course Larry is right about the manufacturing costs, but what about also the cost of R&D for the DSP and filtering in the transmitter itself? Charging for the RM is a good way to disperse the cost of that feature in the transmitter amongst the people who actually want that feature. And now enough time had passed, it can be enjoyed by a larger base through the use of the app. That said, I go with lectrosonics for the quality and reliability of their audio transmission. Then again, my opinion, one might say, is a little bit biased. James
