  1. I have a friend in STL looking for a mixer tomorrow through Sunday. $500/12. Gear(664 kit) is provided. Producer email: Position filled, thanks for your help!
  2. I used to live 5 minutes from Bell's brewery in Kalamazoo. Oberon is a summer favorite here(profile pic).
  3. You could start by looking up the TV stations in the nearby major cities you will be in and find out what frequencies they broadcast on. Most of that info is readily available online.
  4. I don't have an iPhone, but "WiFi Analyzer" is a good Android app for finding a clear WiFi channel. I think it might also be available for iOS. Check it out.
  5. Here in Michigan, we called it "slug-bug". Good times!

    VR Field Antenna

    Maybe he just holds it..
  7. I used a couple of those a few months ago and they worked great. I was having a little trouble with standard fins/wings(tv towers across the street). I switched to these diversity antennas and it was night and day.
  8. When I tried recovering some formatted C300 cards, it found the MXF files, but they would not import into any video editing software. I was able to open them in VLC, but most of them wouldn't play. Some of them would play small clips of choppy footage.
  9. I tried the same thing last month, but the card was formatted in the C300. I used 5 different recovery programs, both PC and Mac, with no such luck. I was able to recover some files, but post couldn't get any of them to work. I came to the conclusion that the C300 does some permanent erasing when formatting, unlike the 5D. However, if it was just "erased", it should all be completely recoverable. +1 for Recuva.
  10. Watch out when you have plenty of open mics in a small room and they all start laughing and talking over eachother.. I had one talent in a controlled room, SDI, lav and boom. Hour long interview and she would pick at her ring with her fingernail between every question response. Almost worse than an outburst. I just pretend I don't know what it is and I'm searching the room for this 'ticking noise' and she was quick to stop it. Next week, at it again. I was lucky to be in the position to where I could call her out on it without offending her.
  11. The other week, I had one of the AC's tell me that my UCR411 hops weren't powering up on one of the cameras. I checked it out and it ended up being a blown fuse inside the camera battery plate.. Just another camera issue they try to blame on sound. But I agree with Mark, no reason not to suck juice from camera. I would rather power from camera then have to swap 9v's at lunch.
  12. I've noticed on the C300's, where the BNC cable pin inserts into the camera, there isn't solid contact. I was losing sync with 3 C300's on a shoot. Simply jiggling the cable would sync the camera back up. I had the tech tighten up those BNC holes and all is well.
  13. I use a ziplock bag. Cut the bottom two corners off, feed each end through the holes, and connect them inside the bag. Use electrical tape to seal the corners of the bag with the cables running through. Hope this makes sense, been up for 36 straight hours..
  14. I'm using this organizer box from Home Depot. Holds all the transmitters and lav accessories. Currently holding 12 SMVQ's and 2 SMa's, but the trays are deep enough to double or even triple up. http://www.homedepot.com/buy/husky-22-in-cantilever-plastic-organizer-with-metal-latches-17185073.html The bottom shelf holds 12 individual plastic trays. Just cut away a side on each tray so the transmitters can lay across.

  16. On a shoot right now with 3 C300's. Each rig has a lockit, two 411 hops, a Starlink transmitter and v-mount brick. All lockits jammed to Cantar and the cam ops monitor audio. No issues from post, just some whining from camera dept about sore shoulders :'(
  17. Yes, I've worked with her before and I can vouch for her.
  18. Position filled. Thanks to anyone who responded.
  19. Well that's one way of doing it.. I could guess as what's under there, but that's exactly what it would be, a guess.
