  1. What kinds of cases/bags/ect are you using to keep all your tape/sticky/clips/ect organized? I really need to up my game on this. Have been reusing DPA clip boxes but its just not working that well for me. Looking for some good ideas! Thanks
  2. Those of you that are using one of the DSR4's with the EXT back plate(analog), what were the connectors on the included power cable?
  3. Anyone using one? How so and when? I feel like with some of the outdoor stuff I do that it could be nice for some control over the natural ambience of the scene. Schoeps makes a nice kit with a Mini CMIT and CMC8 in a Rycote.
  4. Just wanted to bump this. I've been using a 4017B for a while now. It is awesome! I love it. I think it is more natural sounding than my CMIT's I have. Still use both but go for the DPA first. Thats where I'm at anyways these days.
  5. Wow some great bags! Going to have to check out Progear!
  6. Awesome little kit! How do you access the control knob of the mixpre? That's what's holding me back on the KTek bags and even the Orca ones..
  7. Yeah I can't see anything about when they are expected to be available either. I was eyeing the KTek stuff. But have read they aren't great for mixpre's since you have to get to the side for the main control knob. Which is a shame as I like the form factor and would love the external antenna mounts. Right now I'm struggling to find something better then the Small Eargonizer to get for a new small bag. Even though it's a bit bigger than I'd like. I really want the Rack n Bag but the bag on it is just not very practical. And i do too much outdoor stuff in not nice weather to not have a full bag setup. Wish the bag was more useable on that rig.
  8. Yeah that looks like it would be a great way to down size my big bag and also expand my small bag for 2 rigs. Very cool. Think the 411a's have a flatter potential frequency response. But not sure that makes them better. Especially since 1 DSR4 weighs less than 1 411a ha! What kind of bag are you using?
  9. Wow had not seen that. That seems like it would be a nice upgrade for the 411's. Will keep my eye on that unit. I only have 4 transmitters, 2 in block 20 and 2 in block 21. Hopefully they can work with this receiver, that would be very nice and would be light enough to run in both bags and same amount of wireless.
  10. Hi All. I am looking for some ideas and inspriation for a small chest rig. I curretnly have 2 bag setups and one is just heavy, but needed at times, and the other is just a bad bag. I am finding myself in need to upgrade the small bag recorder wise and wireles wise so taking the moment to get a new bag. Here are my current setups: Big Bag: Sachtler Eargonizer Large Mixpre 10-T 4 URC411 receivers 1 Zaxcom TRXCL3 transmitter BDS Power with NP-1 battery This bag works great I use my K-Tek Stingray harness to wear it on my chest when needed. But it's a heavy bag. So I have a smaller one too for simplier setups. Small bag: Sachtler Lightweight Audio bag Small (I HATE this bag though) Mixpre 6 I usually swap over 1 of the URC411 receivers if needed otherwise it's just a boom or external mic setup generally. I'd like to get a new small bag to replace my current small bag setup for when I just need 1 lav and a Boom or maybe 2 lavs and a boom solo setup. That stays fairly lightweight. I also will need Timecode generation and Zaxcom TRXCL4 transmitter. Due to this I'll be either getting another Mixpre 6 but the II version that'll do timecode. Or another mixpre 10 but a II. Then potentially get a Lectrosonics SRC dual receiver for 2 wireless when I need it but keeping the weight down. But I can' find a bag I like that isn't too big or too small. I like the Large Eargonizer from Sacthler and right now am leaning towards just getting the small one. I've also thought about the Film Devices Rack n Bag, but I still need the bag as I work outside most of the time and I don't love how that bag would allow for cable management for booms/externals with the bag on. So show me your rigs! Inspire me! Or just tell my your thoughts/suggestions. Thanks
  11. Thank you much! I have thought about doing that. I just need to get the cabling for it. I do keep the TRX on the outside of the bag as far from the receivers as possible, and they are far apart in frequency, or as far as I can get really with the Blocks I have: Ch1: 512.500 Ch2: 520.100 Ch3: 538.300 TRX: 560.000 So I will push the TRX up more to 590ish and try to build a longer antenna. Do you run it up on your harness like by your shoulders? Would it be even worth it to get better antenna's for the receivers?
  12. Browsing gear tonight and stumbled on this setup: https://filmdevices.com/rack-n-bag-info/ Looks like it would be very handy! Not too expensive either. I love how versitle i can be to go from cart/base setup to a bag setup! Seems pretty affordable too. Anyone try one?
  13. Hey Guys, I have a bag with a Mixpre 10T in it and 4 channels of UCR411a's and 1 TRXCL3. I have always kind of had RF issues, certainly not great performance as I have had in the past when using this gear in other situations. Im just using the 1/4 wave antennas thats come with the UCR's and TRX. The TRX seems to do mostly okay but my lavs can be really spotty to the point I don't trust them as much as I need to. I do not work in an area where there is a lot of RF around, quite the opposite in fact as I work out on a massive ranch most the time. So nothing local is messing with me. I've cleaned up cabling as much as possible, and lifting the receivers up as high as I can or setting them on the bag helps. But I hate doing that. So looking for an antenna distributor to get a small boom with a nice antenna on it. But most units I see for are for the SRC receivers which I kind of wish I had just 2 of those for 4 channels of wireless in one of the antenna units made for them. Is there any unit that works with the UCRs? Or should I seriously consider switching to the SRCs? Thanks!
  14. Thanks all for your help and insight! I think for now I'll go with the MK41 capsule and try out the DPA 4017 and maybe 4018 as well. Appreciate everyone's input!
  15. Haha valid points on the microphone question in general. I do mainly music recording so know this is a silly question in a lot of ways. But always helpful to get a bead on things. Funny you mention exteriors, as honestly I don't think I've ever use the CMIT outside and not liked it. Really inside is where it can be, lets say questionable. So that might be more the area I need to focus on. You say Schoeps 641, im assuming you mean a CMC6 with an MK41 capsule? That is on my list to get. I have a ton of CMC6 amplifers for music recording with almost a dozen capsule options. Seems like a good move. The DPA also really interests me as I use DPAs in lots of other ways, my Lavs are all DPAs too. I appreciate the insight and knowledge! Monte I certainly have the budget to purchase a couple and try out. Not super concerned with costs of any of them, they all seem reasonable. 416 is of course quite cheaply priced I think. Still might be worth a listen. I think the 416 and the 4017 and MK41 are my current short list. I have no experience with the brand really. Have eye balled a few of their mics though. They make an M/S one I've thought about getting to mount on our cameras for a decent camera mic. How do you boom the SuperCMIT? Do you have a stereo boom pole? Of just use the one output? I do think getting an MK41 is my next move and I'd love to try the DPA one as I use their stuff a lot and really like it. Appreciate the feedback and perspective.
  16. Hi all, I have a been using a Schoeps CMIT 5 for years now and while it does a pretty reasonable job, sometimes its just to edgy/bright for sources. I have used MKH416s but its been a real long time. Considering getting one though, would it be a good one to have on hand? Any others worth looking at? I've thought about grabing and MK41 capsule as well. MKH 8060? DPA 4017?
