  1. Just as an update, it was a faulty CF card that didn't allowed the recording. not human error... if you don't count my decision of buying a cheap card.
  2. A good example of great recording but staying true to the size of the room is in the new batman film, in Bruce Wayne manor. You can feel the size of the room but understand every letter perfect.
  3. Thanks Larry, Jeff and of course Eric for getting this sorted.Very excited about this. Have been to NAB before, but this would be my first RAMPS/JWSound party. Looking forward to catching up with a lot of the great folks i have meet in here. See you soon
  4. Hi I also own both this mics and they are my two main players. The CMIT 5u is amazing, lovely round sound, great rejection and the pull is amazing, specially if you hit the high frequency emphasis. Is shorter than a 416 and others and very light. Besides the blue finish is very sexy. The CS-3e is great, not as much pull as the CMIT but good enough. IMHO the sound is more high heavy, but is more forgiving when off axis (i.e. a 2 people dialogue). As for the issue with moisture, i did use the CMIT 5U entirely for 2 weeks on a doco in Singapore (similar weather to yours) and never had a problem with it. If you can only get one, i would go with the Schoeps. But, just an idea, if you are buying them new, for the price of the CMIT 5U you could buy the CS-3e and the CS-1e. Then you would have an amazing pair of matching sound, for indoor and outdoor. Maybe something to consider?
  5. Philp, no offence taken, that was my first thought, but then i do remember rolling. As for the rec-pending i have seen it before, but this would have been a 9 min pending, i probably would have seen it. Production just told me it's a take they can live without luckily, i just hope this doesn't happen again to me or any of you. Thanks for the input.
  6. It wasn't in the previous file as the previous file finishes right after cut. And no there was no calling cut, besides in the file there is the last portion of the action, not the beginning. Is very odd
  7. No, i checked that, there is no file before or after or in the falsetake or trash
  8. Hi all So 2 days ago i was recording a tv add in a house and today i got that awful call from production: 'one of the files is incomplete'. I checked the hard drive of the 788t and on it the file is also incomplete. The camera take is 11:15 and the audio take only 1:38. The weird thing is, the audio is the last 1:38 of the video, not the beginning! During recording no message came up, the recorder didn't freeze or anything like that. I have the A-Time in big numbers so i don't recall seeing the timer of the take at the end of it. Has this ever happen to anyone? Now i need to write an insurance report (1 time ever) and explain what could have gone wrong. Any ideas? Thanks Diego
  9. I used one for this coke documentary where we wanted to record the heartbeat. We used 2 options, a standard one with a cos11 on the end, and one that came with a recorder built in with an sd card. The 2 one was the better option. We got the runner to get on a treadmill and run until the heartbeat reached 120bps, that was the tempo of the song.
  10. I used a hyperdrive the other day. First I copied from a CF to an SD card the sound rushes as they had no DIT (so much cheaper if they loose it). Then during the job, i recorded some quick wilds and atmos on my 788t. I wanted to change the names of files and also create new folders for them, but i can't do that easily on a 788t. I plugged the 788t to the HyperDrive with the USB OTG adapter and it came up as an external drive. Very easy in there to move files and so on. Next day i ordered one and now it's on it's way.
  11. Nice, I bet comteks get put in there every now and then.
  12. Hey Matt i bought this http://www.bestofferbuy.com/68key-portable-mini-multimedia-keyboard-with-retractable-usb-cable-black-p-28799.html and works well with the 788t. Is cheap and ships to the UK.
  13. I would become a producer and undercut every crew member in every shoot i did, that way i'll be doubling my cut.
  14. Careful with wind covers, they can end up like this one from The Dark Night Rises sound crew (photo from Sound & Picture Magazine)
  15. try N-Track. Not only the license is very cheap, it runs really well on low spec computers.
  16. That makes sense. I was wondering if there was a way of using the same antenna for receivers and for ifb. Will keep the 2 antennas then Thanks
  17. Hi everyone Here in the UK, we use for some wireless headphones and receivers a frequency between 864-865Mhz as it is free of licence. As this frequency falls in the rage of wide-band antennas, i was wondering if i could plug my ifb transmitter to the antenna out on my venue receiver and use my 2 shark fin antennas with it at the same time as using the venue? Will it work or will it make some interference from one system to the other? Thanks
  18. Does it work with iPhone 5 new digital connector or do you sell the adaptor too?
  19. Thanks guys, yes when i meant the yamaha and similar, i meant the A&H and Mackie some people use, not Sonosax, sorry. I guess inverter is the way to go if i want more channels. Thanks, will check with them. That is a good option, but i use the same mic as slate and com to the boom.
  20. Hi everyone I have been in the look for a new mixer for the cart. I have been using a rental CL-9 and was thinking on buying one. But i hate the fact that i have to loose an iso for a talkback mic. So i'm thinking that if i'm going to loose an iso, at least i should gain better preamps and outputs, so i'm looking into an external mixer, like a cooper or audio developments. But i have seen a lot of people using the yamaha 01v96, or sonosax or similar. I would love the extra channels and outputs and all, but i'm just wondering, how do you power it on the cart? They only accept 120-240v, so do you use an inverter or similar? Thanks a lot Diego
  21. In my opinion, if you have down time during filming, and you are keen you can go through takes and do a small sound report. But if production wants a good report, at the same time as a good mix, they need to get you a boom op. Or, like i once did, get a production intern to be by you with the report and get him to just do that.
