  1. Hello to all London Members. I trained in Sydney, Australia, and after years of working i had a great network of sound recordist friends there, with which i could bounce ideas, learn new and old technics from the recording greats, collaborate in projects and every now and then replace each other when one could not take a job. I moved to London about 5 years ago, and although i have a couple of great boom ops and plenty of work, it has been harder to recreate this sound elite network again. This forum has been great for discussion topics, but the human contact is needed for the rest. I propose we use this space to get in contact to collaborate in projects in London and the UK, help those up and coming and maybe have a few beers in the process. Anyone keen is welcome to post anything in here Best Diego Sanchez www.soundiego.co.uk
  2. Hi Jan I appreciate the comments a lot, one never stops learning. I do normally manage to hide a cos11 or tram good enough to avoid noise and be hidden, but i have been in situations with actors (specially female) wearing very tight tops that are also half see through. in those instances i have successfully used the B6, was just looking into other alternatives. I guess i just wish the cable in the cos11 was as thin as in the countryman as i do love the sound.
  3. I have been using a lot my Lectro HM plug as a wireless boom and i love the quality and how convenient it is. What i was wondering is, would it be possible to modify it as to have a split that can go into a pair of headphones? Thus creating a direct monitoring for the boom op?
  4. That looks perfect Pindrop, thanks a lot. Any favourite between the options? Is the presence boost good or better to go flat?
  5. Any particular DPA? I do love their sound.
  6. I normally use either tram or cos11 with my lectro radios, but there has been a few occasions that although the cable is cream or withe, the shirt or blouse of the actors is very see-through and you can see the cable. Or the material is too tight and it creates a vein like effect. I have 2 Countryman B6 that normally are very good in this cases, as the cable is hair thin; but i find the sound a bit thin and very sensitive to clothing noise. What other options are around with such a thin cable? the actual size of the mic is also good, but now as critical.
  7. I use my G2 as transmitter and have 2 IME as receiver for director. For agency, i found out i can use many of the commercially available wireless headphones that work on the 862-864Mhz frequency (the non-licence spectrum here in the uk). I bet is a similar case in the states. The headphone i have been using are Sennheiser RS110 and some smaller size sony ones. Range is great as is mostly up to the transmitter. And is about $60 a pop, so not expensive. Best thing is, no cables for agency/client to break, tangle, unplug, dip in coffee, chew out of stress, etc.
  8. Nothing gets the crew going like barking on the mic! Once you finish, just say 'sound check finished, thanks for listening'
  9. CrewC, i do love Shoeps. WWhich one are you recomending?
  10. Thanks guys. No wonder the confusion. I actually meant the Sanken CS-1e, not the 3e. I’m after a directional short mic, and these 3 are all less than 180mm.
  11. I love my 788t. I have tried the ipad app and think is very nice and usefull. I had it on my cart, instead of my keyboard, and it replaced it perfectly and added metters and some extra functions. Something i would like to see is the possibility to plug it via usb and not wifi, to reduce RF and slag. And also Android, better tablets.
  12. I'm buying a new mic. I need a short very directional mic, and have norrowed it down to 3. I want to know what people think of them and which one would you recommend. It is between Sennheiser MKH50, Sennheiser MKH8060 and the Sanken CS-3e. Any coment will be great.
