  1. There does not seem to be any discussion here of the Metric Halo box. http://www.mhlabs.com/metric_halo/products/mio/2882/ I have no experience with it, but Gotham Sound packages it with their Metacorder set-up. Daniel
  2. What do you suppose is the cause of the curious phenomenon of clicking "Show unread posts since last visit" and it returning "No unread topics found since your last visit. Click here to try all unread topics" when there are several such posts?
  3. Perhaps this would be a good place to re-state who gets what copy of the sound report? This is an older quote from Phil Palmer: What is the method to assure that all these departments get their proper copy? (I've been using 3 part for years, and have assumed that the PA or AC that I hand them off to files them properly.)
  4. That was the biggest SM58 I've ever seen, and he rode it like a pony!
  5. A Bogen Magic Arm with a monitor tray mounted on a Mafer gives solid support and you can position the laptop exactly where you want it. Downers: It is heavy, and you need two hands to adjust it. No quick "swing out of the way" action. You'll have to use heavy duty velcro on the laptop bottom to attach it. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/325446-REG/Bogen_Manfrotto_143N_Magic_Arm_Without_Camera.html http://www.manfrotto.com/Jahia/site/manfrotto/cache/offonce/pid/3199 I haven't used this variable friction arm- it may allow one handed use. http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/325444-REG/Bogen_Manfrotto_244N_Variable_Friction_Magic_Arm.html
  6. How is this unit handling TC on an audio channel? BTW I just noticed that the Zoom H2 has an "On-board chromatic Guitar/Bass tuner".
  7. Does this new release indicate the Mac Mini may live a little longer? http://www.apple.com/macmini/ BTW if one scrolls about half way down the page to the "Big Ideas" section there are links to mods and interesting uses of the Mini. Maybe a user here will post an unusual sound app. (I haven't incorporated a Mini on my cart yet.)
  8. Director Hal Hartley told me several years ago that he had been thinking for some time of making a film with all of the dialogue done to playback.
  9. What are we gonna do when these start going off during a take? http://www.popgadget.net/2007/06/puchipuchi.php
  10. It seems that any recorder with a mini input does not like time code on one channel. It bleeds terribly (very messy). Does this general statement seem accurate?
  11. The Aphex 120A is bulletproof. I have three: L, R, and time code. The downside is that it is mains power only, but on the upside is that in addition to the 4 outputs it has a throughput. If it is wired into the cart and you don't need it for todays job it will still be throughputting to the Comtek even if it isn't powered up. When I upgraded from a Cooper 106 to a Cooper 208 I removed the one I had rack-mounted on my cart because I now have enough outputs for most jobs. On a multi-camera (hardwired) job I typically place them at the DIT or Video Engineer's station and run cables to them. They can sometimes send sound to camera digitally through their fiber optic (if that works for you). The next task is confortably getting returns from the cameras. http://www.aphex.com/120A.htm
  12. I recently saw a mac mini powered with a PSC Powermax at Gotham. They had tested it pretty extensively and I believe they disputed the published power requirements.
