  1. Where you guys buying from? Think I will spring for one before the end of the year.... gracias.....cleve
  2. I would agree with the muddling up!!! Many thanks...
  3. Thanks Peter...didn't know the M was a block designator! I thought my servo bias cables would work, but they did not! Of course it's possible I might have mislabeled a non servo one. Thanks for the clarification... cleve
  4. Hmmm...they were the new darker colored transmitters. Just weird. Probably like most of us, I have so many dang cables, adapters, etc, I went digging and found two XLR---TA5F that worked!
  5. Was handed a couple of SMQV M the other day, and lo behold the cables I use out of my mixer would not work with them...same cables work with UM400/400A/SM/SMa and SMQV! Just wondering???? And since I was here spending a few quality time moments, thought I would ask rather than click over to the LECTROSONICS www page. thanks.....cleve
  6. Thanks Vladimir....good info! I just used a MKH-50 extensively for a week, and was impressed. But the arsenal here is two CS-3E or two Schoeps CMC 641 or two MKH 416 for sit down interview stuff, so doubt I will be adding to the pile. thanks again....cleve
  7. Watched and listened. Production is obviously comfortable with lavs as that was most of the scenes. Why the booms with Snowden, who knows! Perhaps a way to minimize outside noise...
  8. Yep Phillip...my life is sit down interview, and the CS3e works well. The fan, well its Moscow! I once did a sit down with Mike Wallace for 60 MIN, in a very small, stuffy, hot office in Mexico City....a window unit AC was hung in the wall, high up near the ceiling. I looked at it, walked over to find the off switch, and Mike says, "you're not turning that OFF are you Cleve?" No Mr. Wallace, just checking the thermostat!!!! Sometimes you gotta give!!!!!!
  9. Thanks Matt...that's exactly who I sent them to! Don't know what happened...
  10. Maybe tomorrow...schedule conflict!!!! thanks all....
  11. I did this years ago but have since sold off all my 77Bs! I was able to get the TA5F for servo bias use wired properly, but cannot get the wiring for a matching TA5M on the power supply end. I know its possible, but for the life of me can't figure it out... Help appreciated.... cleve
  12. Boom...all the way! Clothing noise and footsteps and etc. will kill ya... You might also have the actors do the lines wild, while not moving right after the take. They could still be short of breath and that will help...if so, be sure to get at least a bit of clean running!!!
  13. Thanks for asking Robert...thought it was me! The fellow that builds the PC board antennas is a friend of mine. Want him to see how his stuff gets used...and build a couple myself.....
  14. Couple of years ago, I worked on a 10min corporate thing shot entirely with Go Pros. Audio was of course on my recorder but with Plural Eyes the editor claimed to have no problem syncing. I did take copious sound notes!!!!!!!

  16. Lots of good comments about when and how the B6 are the best choice. You can't have just one lav mic in your arsenal! Just like you can't have just one boom, plant, mic. The B6 has worked great for me for quick, thru the buttonhole mounts. Never had much of an issue with SPL, but I was probably just lucky. Use Sonotrims most of the time...just used to the sound, placement, etc. Would love to give the COS-11D a try but as most everyone that would require buying half a dozen, and not up for that.
  17. I haven't looked at Comtek in quite awhile, but I don't believe you can get Opt 7 on the receivers!
  18. Hey JBOND.....magnificent collection and superb photos, thanks! Not sound-man super secret acronyms... PA....production assistants! The youngest kids on the set tasked with, well, whatever. Literally, PA's usually are many on a job and do many general duty kind of things. On some jobs they may be assigned to a particular department, and even in my background of documentary and news sound work, I have once or twice had a PA! AD...assistant director. On a large production set, they run the place. They are the organized, schedule keeping, practical appendage of the director! It is usually the AD that calls, ROLL!
  19. Is the fan/ambient noise as bad as Sound of Music last year? Same venue I think.... cleve
