  1. The archives exist but I will not miss an opportunity to praise this app: It works well, is supported with constant improvement, and is simply a must have. Glen
  2. TC output is on the 5-pin lemo.
  3. I think Jeff is looking in the right direction here. I notice some pops and crackle every few years as my boom jumper cable begins to wear on the female XLR. Glen
  4. It seems strange to have noise from glasses/earpad contact during a head turn as all these pieces should be turning together... One thing I did notice with the Ultrasone was increased conductive noise from the straight cable. As a head turn pulls the cable up my shoulder, I hear the rumble. Glen
  5. I always wondered myself. Thanks for taking the time to document and share this.
  6. I also love that they are making fun of themselves in the video with all that cabling on a 'working' camera. The solution? Simply show another camera not ready to shoot without anything plugged into it and just talk about about all the stuff it might be able to do...

  8. I have to put a RedSync module in my bag?!
  9. Simply put, there is no advantage at all to running it without the on-board and lots to gain in terms of fail-safe and uninterrupted external swaps. Glen
  10. I also let the internal drives on my 744t and 788t get pretty full and consider it yet another backup. Projects routinely make their way to a large RAID drive at home. I was happy to learn in another thread that the 664 will copy across media cards. I plan to do what I have been doing with 7 series. Using high quality/high speed cards to record, but then copy to a smaller, lower priced card for deliverable. Less stress about getting that tiny $150 card back. For backup in remote areas without a laptop, consider something like these: http://www.nextodi.com/product/en_nvs1501.html Glen
  11. Thank you Paul. That is some seriously good news.
  12. I agree and I'm slightly concerned about cards and card management. I've never had any CF issue recording to name brand high-speed cards. Yeah, the expensive ones. If I'm handing cards over, I will often copy to a cheaper (and slower) card that can hold the minimum data, but not the speed. I don't care if it takes them another 10 minutes to copy, I DO care that I only handed off $16 card instead of a $150 card. I'd like to continue this practice with the 664 WITHOUT needing a laptop. Not sure if it will copy across media slots. I suppose a Nexto drive is in my future. http://www.nextodi.com/product/en_nvs1501.html Glen The lack of an internal hard drive kills it for me though. I do a lot of projects where there is no time to dump the audio, and I have to go for weeks keeping it all on my hard drive. I know there is a 256 GB CF card out there, but I like having my hard drive in there, and using the CF drive for redundant recording. Makes me feel better.
  13. Pascal's comparison photo is not really to scale: Each machine is sitting on a table, so the 788t/CL8 (being a few inches shorter) is further from the lens. Glen
  14. Folks that complain about the size/weight of a 664 never shouldered a Nagra 4.2 (its 12 D cells at 2lbs) only to mix 2 inputs to one track. I've dreamed of a 664 for well over a decade and it's still smaller, lighter, and more capable than I ever would have thought possible. Glen
  15. Only weighs half a pound more than 552. I hope I don't find myself tracking 12 receivers with that around my neck... I DO like that I will have a somewhat reasonable (4-5) number of inputs on full size XLR, with individual trims, PLF, and faders and better metering. It always frustrates me on the 788t/CL8 that I have to look for info and make adjustments to a path in 4 different locations. It's difficult to think of either/or being a one for all approach. I do perhaps see an end to my 552/744t combo though. Glen
  16. Will it have the ability to copy files from one media to the other? (copy last 24hrCF > SD)
  17. Thanks Larry, I must have missed that thread when I was on the road... Glen
  18. Larry, Could you please share any info about this new SRb receiver? Does it have a tracking front end? Thanks, Glen
  19. L50S = 55wh L7S = 68wh OR 71wh I do notice considerably longer life but the L50S are much older; my "newest" was placed in service in '05. I always reach for my newest stock to power a heavy bag rig. My older L50S stock will occasionally get used to power a single receiver at video assist and still run all day. Glen
  20. This doesn't effect me because I have older SM series transmitters. This does effect me, because it is continued substantiation of why I adore Lectrosonics and rely on their products in the field. It's also great to have Larry so active in the group. Glen
  21. As mentioned, the RF spray is a drawback for some 744t applications. It also has only 2 preamps. Otherwise, it is an extremely reliable, robust, great sounding recorder with full metadata, TC, pre-roll, and high sample rate recording. I can see continued life for mine with a few receivers dropped in the trunk of a car, tucked in a chopper, stashed in a canoe, etc. for shots that may go out of range or are covered with a bunch of damn GoPro's. Glen
  22. Just did a whirlwind tour of 6 major US cities in one week with 8 wireless. This App was absolutely essential for efficiency, precision, and perhaps most of all, sanity! If you use wireless, you need this Ap. Glen
  23. I bet they try to steal the pen they ask you to bring too.
