  1. How about this, which I have seen. Rent the camera package and the audio gear is included at no extra cost.
  2. coroplex works well. you can buy it in small sheets or a 4x8' lifetime supply. David
  3. I suitable amount of high explosives will convince them of the error of their ways. David
  4. From what I hear the new SD recorder (maybe to be called 688), will offer a step up from the 664. We shall see soon.
  5. Connectors on the back could be an issue as some of us mount the display on the front of the sound bag. The Betso allows easy mounting of the display since the connectors are on the ends. Just a thought. David
  6. Got slapped for using it on a woman!! Be careful out there. David
  7. That Karl, I'll bet you have his office "bugged" with Lectro products!! David
  8. I saw a recent Lectrosonics ad basically saying when the world ends all that will be left are the roaches and Lectrosonic products. Very clever, though I am not sure I would want to be associated with the roach!! Good Idea anyway Larry. You have created a new image of Lectrosonic for me!! Thanks David
  9. Dishwasher works quiet well, no bashing about.
  10. Adam another suggestion to allow the user to add or subtract small compartments. Would you consider using the Mod-U-Lox fasteners to add small pouches, much like the Petrol audio products? Thanks David
  11. Adam, 1. I would suggest dividers or modular compartments like Jim Domke came up with (a compartment for a 633, 744T, 302, Nomad, Maxx) something that would support and cradle the mixer/recorder, additional modules for receivers, battery, bds, etc. 2. A pouch for both the battery and BDS. The idea of a BDS is great. I never liked the side mount connectors, this takes up too much space in your bag, plus the connectors are hard to grasp and loosen. Not as user friendly, but my solution was to use a multipin chassis connector on the bottom of the box and simply wire as many cables as I need to the male connector. If I add or subtract a new piece of gear I can add or subtract a cable to the connector. 3. Yes I like the idea of longer hand straps. 4. I do like your suede straps. Better that anybody's 5. You could offer the leather handle as an option. 6. I don't think a cover over the front pouch is necessary. An overall rain/vinyl cover for the whole bag, yes 7. I like the front pouch to be fixed. 8 The waist strap idea would be appreciated for a small AO bag Thanks David
  12. Adam, I have a suggestion, though you may not want to go down this path. I have been a Portabrace user for many years, (more than 30) and you guys make some fine bags and kit. In recent years the bags have not kept up with the rapid changes in audio gear and the demands placed on the user in the work environment. My most recent bags have been made by three different manufactures. The German company Kortwich fills a niche by offering both stock bags and custom bags. Their bags command a premium in the US due to currency exchange and customs duty. Would Portabrace consider offering a range of stock bags and additionally for a small premium offer custom adaptions to those bags? Perhaps not what you want to here, but maybe a partial solution to folks having different needs and wants. There are several custom coach companies here in Nashville that build to the clients specific needs. The coaches start out as a shell and these companies have modular units that fit within the defined space. Maybe Portabrace could have the basic bag, much like Jim Domke did with camera bags back in the 70s, that would accept modular units. Just some thoughts. David in Nashville
  13. I too have enjoyed building Lectro kits over the years. From time to time they have made them available for sale. Doesn't save you a lot of money, but fun building. Reminds me of my years of building various Heath kits. David
  14. I have been using the Stingray bag with a SD 633 since it became available. Overall I like the bag. I am a fan of the Portabrace Piggin straps for holding various cables, etc. The cloth loops do not make it easy or secure to attach the Piggin straps, so a trip to HD and I found some small Maillion loops, problem solved. Another point for me is the bag is not perfectly flat, so because the mixer and wireless sit higher in the bag the whole thing becomes a bit top heavy and is prone to rolling over. Not a deal breaker. Lastly as some folks have pointed out the mesh is not tight. Also I find where my stomach contacts the bag causes it to bend in over the mixer slightly making access to the smaller pots not as easy. A nice bag for the intended mixers. As I use it more I am sure other thoughts about it will become apparent. Thanks K-Tek David Rogers
  15. A suitable quantity of high explosives can help. Blocking is the way to go. Helps keep one's sanity. David
  16. Do you find hair growing in the palm of your hands, if yes, then you might want to consider another line of work. David
  17. Zack I just wanted to let you know I purchased some of the V mount Duo batteries for another project. Love the fact in addition to the V mount, there are two D taps and a 5v USB plug. Very nice Thanks David
  18. +1 on the Dodge Ram C/V Tradesman. I bought one last year. Great space and towing capacity. Plus our four greyhounds have a great ride!! David
  19. For me a set of Gordon preamps into your recorder of choice. Not portable, but oh so nice. David
  20. Bernie I don't see why pop rivets wouldn't work, enough small ones spread around the perimeter should do the trick. Glad to help out Malcolm. With the dollar to pound ratio these days, the cost shouldn't be too bad. If my memory serves, these mounts are actually made by an Italian company, so Ian might be able to source them directly from the factory. David Nashvegas
  21. Malcolm, I have been buying the Modulox fasteners from this company, only a few dollars each, http://www.ahh.biz/hardware/miscellaneous/mod_u_lox_black_plastic.php To attach them to my Kortwich bag I found if I predrilled small holes on the plastic backing, then when I used my sewing awl it was much easier to stitch. My needle just would not go through the plastic. If you know someone with a commercial sewing machine that can sew leather or canvas I would imagine that would be better. David
  22. Sound Devices is a solid company, there is a problem with a product, they find the fix and make it happen with little fanfare. David
  23. Well Kortwich has posted their version of a 633 bag. It looks like a smaller version of the 664 bag (800664.1) Nearly $400usd and no waist belt. david
  24. Genelec and Adams or my two favs. David
