  1. The BBC Worldwide Service is selling of more of their gear. I ran across this http://www2.ppauctions.com/auction.php?thisPage=50&id=71&perPage=20&sort=2&search=&cat=all

All kinds of audio and video gear along with other support gear. If you are in Europe could be nice. Not so sure about those of us in the US with shipping and customs.

Just thought it might be of interest to the group and I have no connection with the BBC or the auction company.

    Thanks

  2. Thanks for all of the insightful replies. For the basic out the door rig (mixer, boom, 2-wireless) I am all inclusive. Extra wireless, multitrack recorder, client monitors, TC slate, then I do line item on the invoice. Much like John Paul commented above. I like your idea Tom of just rolling, then if there are issues, have a value in mind. Using the 788T as a reference, rental prices seem to be around $150 with the Nomad 6 showing a similar price. So if the job demands multiple tracks then adding the cost of renting a similar out board recorder would fill in the cost of your more expensive mixer/recorder.

    Thanks

  3. This is not a brand specific question. I am a new owner of a one piece mixer/recorder. My question is how do you charge for the new mixer/recorder. I have when needed used my mixer along with a seperate recorder. Easy to invoice, add the recorder as another line item.

With the one piece system if you are mixer only charge one rate and then if you are mixer plus recorder charge the additional amount? Another question would be always mix and record even if not needed, then should there be an audio problem and the client comes back to you offer the files plus charge as if you had used the recorder all along.

Or finally just raise your rate to reflect the new piece of gear and always record.

    Your thoughts are appreciated.

    Thanks

  4. Larry, just an observation. The bulbous end of the potatoe gun looks and sounds like a silencer. The ATF is not your friend even though it is for a potatoe gun. Back in the 80's I played a lot of paintball and we were making PVC silencers for the paintball guns. Somebody was caught during that time frame and guess what you didn't see PVC on the end of paintball guns after that. May be a non-issue.

  5. At 5.8ghz antennas can make or break the system. One antenna I have found to be an asset is the skew planar. Works well in 360 degrees, combine it with a circular polarized antenna through a diversity controller and you have a very small system that works well in a video village set up.

  6. It is doable, the duplex cavities to allow the transmitters to mix will be larger than your bag, plus you are going to need a spectrum analyzer with a tracking generator along with a return loss bridge. Every time you retune the transmitters you are going to have to retune the cavities. And there will be a loss as Larry pointed out. This would work fine in a fixed location with fixed transmitter frequencies.

  7. Here is my take on the VOG setup. I had all of the parts in my junk box except for a nice large switch. I have found it works with most dynamic mics with little or no pop. Stable on a table and took about an hour to fabricate.

  8. I have this hooked up to the Mac Mini on my sound cart

    http://www.winradio....home/g33wsm.htm

Does an excellent job and gives you tons of information. I have it hooked to my master antenna tree through an unused port on my rf/splitter amp, so it's seeing the exact same signal as my radio receivers. A hand held unit would also be nice, but don't have one yet...

+1 to Billy. He is a bad influence!! I went out and bought a Winradio, too. Works well.
