Hygiene and personal space is a huge part of the responsibility of a Sound Person. When you mic up talent, do you make sure to keep a few mints on hand or some other fresh breath thing? I keep a pack of Icebreakers mints in my kit, they taste pretty good and aren't as strong as Altoids. Though Altoids are the classic breath refresher in a way, Icebreakers with the little blue flavor crystals are darn tasty and refreshing.

Anybody have a favorite breath refresher?

get everything in a contract. work no more than 9 hour days. don't make it perfect and only allow the client to watch it with you once to tell you fixes, if they take it home there will be pages and pages of notes. anything after that is going to cost them and remember that they usually have a lot more money than they say. also let them know of the deal they just got and the ratio to the work that you did on it. Since there was no dedicated pro sound Op, let them know how much extra time and money post is costing.

What ever happens to these lowballers and gigs that pay like this? Maybe theres some kind of shiesty producer heaven out there and the gigs all go there when they die.

Recently discovered that certain professionals will give a rate for $175/day with equipment on an indie feature. That really blew me away. I'm talking sound devices, all the top gear.

Happened to me at someone's house in a city and then twice in schools.

Wierdly, once it went away when I ran it directly into the recorder and bypassed the mixer.

I really liked the club scene, I thought the mix on it and sound design was very well done.

Check.

I bought this mic as my first mic, the day that Sanken upgraded from CS1 to CS1e.

So far, I really like the sound of it. It is full and rich. I've used it for some SFX gathering, indoor and outdoor filming. One thing that I find myself missing sometimes is a little bit of reach or for an Omni capability.

Twice I have had some RF interference problems though 90% of the time, it is great. Once was in a school basement and the second time was in a different schools teacher lounge.

Also, the pickup pattern has been good with giving a clean image most of the time.

Has anybody ever had experience with RF interference using a Sanken CS1e microphone?

By RF (and I'm pretty sure I'm right) I mean a HF scratchy whiney signal that is around certain places.

Will a 416 be RF immune?

Being on the verge of spending money again, I want to make sure this is the right step before parting ways with my hard earned cash. I'm a sound mixer who is relatively new to the craft (about 9 months doing location audio) and I want to invest in some pro quality wireless. One of the things that I feel is most key to being a good sound person is to have pristine audio. Now pristine is a relative idea but getting as close as possible is a good approach when you don't have the clients or money to access the top quality Zaxcom's/Lectro systems.

My question is about the sound quality of a Sennheiser G3 Wireless system wired to a Sanken COS11 lavaler

vs.

Lectro LMa/Lectro UCR100 wired to a Sanken COS11
