  1. The Tejas Twins are in LA! Schedule is pretty open (with exception to the 4th), so give me a shout about a time for beers and we'll make it on out! We're staying at a place in downtown, but have a car, so anywhere's good for us. My phone number is on my profile page. -E
  2. Hey y'all! My twin brother, Joseph, and I are soundies living and working in Austin, TX. We're both in the union out here and we love doing our sound thing in TX, but we decided to get out for the summertime this year (too hot in the summer and cedar is a death trap in July in Austin). We'll be getting into LA around the 4th of July holiday, and we're not exactly sure how long we're planning on staying, but we'd love to get some work while we're out there to help pay for the trip and to get to know some of y'all doing it out in LaLaLand! Out here, I usually mix and Joe usually booms, but ideally we'd love to pick up some Utility work out in LA! We're only 24, but we've been building the ol' kit up piecemeal for a while and after doing two features out here this year, we're getting to the point of starting to think about long-term cart design and workflow. So...basically we want to learn some new kung fu. I know y'all have some tougher Union rules out there than we do in Texas, but if any of y'all know of a production that would be interested in sneaking us on (either day-playing or a full project) please hit me up! Regardless, if any of y'all want to grab beers or tea or something - that'd be rad, too. Cheers, -Erik Duemig Twin Sound ErikDuemig@gmail.com
  3. Feature is called "Lost In The Sun," a little indie starring Josh Duhamel and Josh Wiggins. I can't say I know enough about trains to confirm the make of it, but I can say it was super fun riding in one of the hopper cars for a shot! -Erik
  4. Out in Central Texas filming some train scenes for this feature. Been a gorgeous morning.
  5. At the office with Harry Knowles and Ain't It Cool News in Austin, TX. That boom will likely not move all day =)
  6. My brother and I got the Remote Audio Adapter package as well as a shiny new XL-10 breakout cable. Yay sound toys!
  7. Great video! Thanks for posting, y'all! I'm actually right in the process of upgrading to the 664, so this was very helpful. =)
  8. I'll put myself down for the +1 as well. =) Austin, TX based. Can be local in Chicago, Nashville, and NYC, or I'm glad to travel to work as well. Would love to boom or cable for some experienced sound guys/girls! Wishing everyone a happy 2012.
  9. My two favorites for this year would be Shame and The Artist. I thought Shame was a rather unique character study of some very interesting people living in New York. I thought it was well-shot and the acting was superb. I have been growing into a bigger and bigger fan of Michael Fassbender recently (I enjoyed his performances in Inglorious Bastards and X-Men: First Class thoroughly), and I'm eager to see his other movie out: A Dangerous Method. The Artist was super entertaining, and really did a great job of getting the audience connected with the characters, even without sound! The story was well-told and engaging, the production design did a great job of capturing 1930s Hollywood (to my knowlege), and I loved the characters. I thought the dream sequence where they start using a few basic sound effects and Jean Dujardin freaks out was a good laugh. I ultimately think a big silent film like this has done a lot among my film-buff friends to get them to notice what kind of a role sound plays in films. The Descendents was an overall great movie, although not one of Clooney's best acting-wise. He's a solid actor and his performance was consistant, but not outstanding, I thought. Pretty good acting across the board otherwise. Carnage is also worth mentioning for this year. I thought they did a decent job of adapting this play for screen, but I could see how it would play a lot better on a stage (might feel more in-the-moment). Overall, it was worth the money to go see it.
