  1. Well we have a new camera player against the RED for Movi, drone and even 3D potentially. All I’ll say is its £25k, poor camera guys. What we care about is how to get sound and timecode in the bloody thing. Had the chance to play with one (and a prototype running Amira software) and here we are. Being just a body they have kept things very tight. First let me say the fans are as low as the Alexa but exposed like the RED, again because of the small body. It even goes into a “quiet mode” when recording. I was yet to get out of them if it would slowly get louder or how it prevents overheating. The timecode is like the Amira, BNC. So nice and easy for most. No talk of their own Ambient quality timecode but I’m sure they haven’t compromised, but then I am a fan of the camera so to speak. The Arri Alexa Mini Audio Settings are interesting. I picked up the prototype and it said 4 tracks on the menu, this I discovered was just the Amira menu encoded in the camera to show it working. The actual camera has a 5pin lemo as a line in stereo feed for audio and they say they will not be shipping specific cables because of the extra cost of stocking them etc… so I have made sure I have them in my sound store so people will have access to them. All in all, whether it’s 3D, drone, M or even a cheaper rig as a multi purpose unit I think we will all get along with it fine. Coming to the market this late is for a reason, proper build quality. That’s what there name stands for in the industry and I’m sure they are not in a hurrah to throw that out the window anytime soon. 6. You can now download it as an offline versions with some bonus manuals: Remembering timecode settings / connectors and setting up of a new camera is always tricky at the start so i have made a few cheat sheets for everyone. You can either view online or just enter your name and email and get it to download to your phone or laptop for offline use. http://soundrolling.com/camera-timecode-tutorial/
  7. There has been lots of chatter about the Tentacle sync timecode system and i originally did an email interview with the Tentacle Sync guys a few weeks ago that got a good response but left people still with lots of questions. So i have arranged for anyone who is free on saturday the 22nd to have a chance to explore more about Tentacle Sync timecode and get to ask their questions directly to Max and his crew. The video stream will go live using the link below on the 22nd and you can always subscribe to my YouTube channel to get an email the day before. If it's useful i can also record it all and post it up after. Thanks.
  8. Thanks for the mention, glad you find the site useful im adding more specific stuff to it shortly.
  9. Added map results for any forms completed, and now the options of entering a postcode so we can build the most detailed map ever!
  10. Well I shall add an interactive map and update the presets to contain as many legal blocks and mW as I can tonight. Ill let you all know when its up. Loving the feedback!
  11. I have added a search function so people can continually just keep adding data when they want and then when people search "london" they will get a most recent list of people using different frequencies and their experiences. Would be great to get more people to flesh out the start of the list Use The Form And Add Your Areas Cleanest Blocks and Frequencies I should also add that the 2 resources aren't competing but offering different kinds of the same information, mine being focused on individual places and there frequency experiences rather than guidelines for what is allowed within a given place.
  12. The idea it to always keep it recent, not just a one off list, adding as we go the the data is always recent and applicable Ive just added a search function too!
  13. So everyone I need your help! I am trying to make it easier to know what blocks and frequencies people are using around the world in different places so we can all get on with packing So the idea (named: Project Clean Air) is a page you can enter in good frequency ranges or just blocks for the area you are in and then all the data is available to all. We all know the range of frequencies that are legal in our area but what about a bit of general prep for all the travellers out there. Sure you can scan when you get there, but if you only have block 21 and you're travelling to another state you may be interested to know if that block is clear for the area you are going. But i need all your input into making this better, so take a look and even have a scan and enter in the data. If you think more fields need to be added please comment! much appreciated, Matt Price http://soundrolling.com/project-clean-air/

  23. I have made a (hopefully) useful list of different connections that popluar cameras have for jamming timecode and for scratch tracks etc.. For the Full List visit: http://wp.me/p2Vzd6-fk at www.soundrolling.com If you want the newest cameras including Amira and Sony F7 then get the offline PDF version that you can use offline : http://soundrolling.com/sound-products/camera-timecode-tutorials/ Arri Alexa (and all versions of it like Alexa XT.. isn't that nice of them!) see on http://wp.me/p2Vzd6-fk RED Scarlet / RED Epic / RED Epic Dragon see on http://wp.me/p2Vzd6-fk RED One Timecode - LEMO 5-pin Timecode In/out (TC) Audio IN - 4x 3-pin mini XLR connectors as a side note they mentioned these bits relating to audio which could be a job saver if not a life one: - You should always use a RED DIGITAL CINEMA XLR to mini-XLR adaptor cable, which provides a -4dB pad, to achieve an appropriate input signal level. - The 48 V Phantom Power source is automatically disabled on each power cycle - Low sensitivity phantom powered microphones may exhibit excessive noise, so consider an ex-ternal +48V phantom power source, or use a dynamic microphone. - Input Level range for Microphone Inputs is +36dB to +54dB. - Input Level for Line Level inputs may not be adjusted. BlackMagic Cameras Timecode - N/A Audio IN - 2 x 1/4” jacks for professional balanced analog audio, switchable between mic and line levels. SONY F65 Timecode - BNC Audio IN - N/A View the full list: http://wp.me/p2Vzd6-fk Thanks
