  1. Great thread, thanks for the inspiration everyone. My brain is working OT to get closer to this type of bag setup.
  2. My boom tube has been all over and protects the pole great. I always bongo tie or cable tie the flight latch shut, but a TSA approved lock would be even better since it would be easier for them to re-close. Lucky so far. Off to Amazon.
  3. Fact is you need to have a plan to check your boom pole/s. If you get a great TSA / security agent and they don't harass you then good for you. But you get someone with a power-trip complex or a shitty attitude and you'll be missing your flight while you take a cab to find a FedEx to mail it to your destination or find a bag to buy and check it safely. I always just check my poles. Remember, in the US the droolers sometimes consider it a potential 'clubbing weapon'. (if my loathing for the TSA isn't clear, feel free to insert it here)
  4. HAHA! Oh that's epic. Wonder if there is any validity to it? These days so much stuff is fake...
  5. I also use a form of physical antenna protection, and I openly dislike the current location of the connector. It's hard to see in this photo, but it's a post that sticks out and prevents the bag from putting strain on the antenna. It's worked for a long time now.
  6. You will find that the stubby right angle antennas work almost exactly as well as the stock antennas at 1/10th of the size if set up correctly. That is my experience with my Nomad and my antenna anyway.
  7. Thanks Todd. Very useful indeed. I have a 'new' toy again.
  8. Agreed, that is too bad. I didn't know this until reading this thread and I own three of them. I already liked them, but that should be made much more clear to people. I wonder how many people abandoned their product because that wasn't clear...
  9. Great idea and I'll add to it soon.
  10. Just flew with Delta yesterday and there was a guy at the gate force-checking everyone's bags. But remember, you cannot allow them to check a bag full of lithium ion NPs. I just politely said 'I'll hang onto this one, thanks' and there was no argument. Easy breezy. Also, if you haven't done it yet, I highly encourage TSA Pre. 2 minutes through security. No gear tear downs, no belt removal, just breeze through.
  11. I saw a lot of folks abandon the Ambient models when the Sound Guys and Orca stuff came out, but I have never been dissatisfied with my Ambient Quick Releases and now I have 3 of them. They are indeed expensive, but I like them a lot.
  12. Hahahahahaha! I love this so much. Going to share. Thanks!
  13. I don't have any of the new COS-11 windscreens, but the old ones were never problematic and work excellently. So here is my public vote for going back to the old style that worked very well.
  14. Where can I buy all this friggin' sound and camera gear that disappears after the TSA takes it?
  15. André that is in fact a very nice ERX cable. Great job.
