  1. so multitrack recorders have the phase inversion just for the two channels reference mix? when you talk about iso track you mean one signal in each track, right? (it´s an english tech term i didn´t know) thanks!!
  2. I would like to know what are the situations that you need to change the phase of a mic, mixing mics in a single recording track like raido + radio or radios +boom,... what if you are recording each mic in it´s own track, in a multitrack recorder? do you correct the phase? or you just leave it to postproduction crew?
  3. I can´t get (in time) the "sound effects bible" could you tell me the indications that Ric Viers writes about the construction of solid surfaces? Thanks Marco
  4. thank you all and specially Dan Smith. your advice is very useful in my situation. I think I´ll try to make heavier the surface with concrete in the tiled one (the first I´m doing)
  5. Hi sonicparticle. Yes, I know "the Foley grail" and it´s a great book, but (if I remember well) it doesn´t say a word about "how to construct the surfaces to have a convincing sound ". she talks about how to work in a footsteps session.
  6. Thanks Marco yes i keep in mind to record some effects outside the Foley stage, but it makes it difficult to record it in sync with the image and it will need more time (search for locations, wait for a noisless time (maybe in the late night) in order to avoid other sounds , etc. I´ll try to find "sound effects bible" and read about transportable Foley to consider new ideas. Thanks
  7. thanks, senator I think you are right and I have to deal with it but... any advice about how to have the best sound possible and accurated recording Foley footsteps in surfaces like concrete and tiles when it´s impossible to do it properly?
  8. Hi! I want to record some foley footsteps in different surfaces, I know that footsteps in sand, grass and stones (and others) use to be simulated with kinda trays like this and i know that the best way to have a good sound for footsteps in thick and solid surfaces like cement or concrete, tiles, marble etc... is to have it built in the very ground like this unfortunately I can´t have it... so I want to make a few DIY transportable surfaces (around 1m square) and I would like to know how to avoid unwanted resonances in surfaces like concrete or tiles. I appreciate any advice and every experience about how to record foley footsteps properly Thanks in advance
  9. I´m thinking about to but a nomad in the next future, i would ask to the nomad owners about the nomad working in hot enviroments, humidity, cold, etc... i would like to know how nomad works in hard conditions. thanks
  10. i know that some recorders (like cantar) make a PDF report, but if you don´t have a keyboards is not very useful to make notes. I still prefer to write it down in paper, anyway any guideline from postproduction guys?
  11. I would like to know how do you manage a Multitrack recording in your sound report sheets in order to have the best workflow between the sound location engineers and the postproduction crew. do you miss (people from postproduction) any information? does anybody have a model or a improvement? thanks
  12. Cinela are great!! if you have a chance you have to try it!! http://www.cinela.fr/
  13. Hi. I would like to know what kind of batteries do you use with Nomad on location and how many time does the batteries work. (the specs of Nomad are 8 to 18 VDC @ 300mA) Thanks
