  1. That's it.. Use a piece of index card or something of that nature while soldering your two connections one at a time to avoid solder bridges on those tightly placed solder lugs. Solder bridges are no bueno and will pretty much ruin that expensive connector. Take your time and use the right sized cable for the job. There is no need for the 1/4" plug to be TRS. A mono plug might work better.
  2. I'm not sure I understand why either.. In addition to insuring the equipment from loss and damage, Isn't that what the COI that they provide us is for? They said that we are considered vendors and must have liability just like any other vendor they do business with.. It seems they are just trying to shift all responsibility to us for their production.. If we are to be responsible for millions of dollars of potential expense in the form of claims, where is our EP credit?
  3. I remember that. It may have been me walking in place..
  4. These folks were trying to get me purchase millions of dollars worth of liability insurance as if my gear was going to obtain artificial intelligence and begin attacking innocent bystanders with all of the dangerous weaponry that is built in to my recording machines. They did the same to Stedicam and video assist.
  5. Put a battery in the adapter cable then... I'll try to refrain from any further arm chair backseat engineering.
  6. Yup, but this model appears to be made to plug directly into full size XLR only. I'm not aware of many cameras or small field recording devices with full size xlr that don't have some level of phantom power available.
  7. At those low power requirements, why don't they just phantom power the receiver off of the xlr input?
  8. Eric, those look a lot like some I made in a pinch on set a while back. We needed the five pin audio inputs for camera for some God aweful reason. I used a hacksaw and filled the connecter with epoxy. It saved the day. Is that something similar?
  9. You mean Teflon tape?
  10. Zaxcom once again gives the customers wood.
  11. Where are Xlr inputs 4,5,12,13? Love the screen printing on the bottom right that says MADE IN USA!
  12. Loud can be just as hard as quiet. The show I'm doing now features and actor who is playing a character that whispers the dialog and then usually ends up in a screaming screech by the end of the take. 6k multicam shoot. Very few chances to get a boom in. I'm using DPA 4061's and neverclip preamps. It's still a challenge to get it all on the track without boning either the whisper or the scream. I've got my gains set very well, but I think that lav may still be approaching clipping at times. The 4061 is like a red dot, padded. As for using the 50 outside, I've never tried It, but based on some testing I did a while back with most of the usual boom mics that we use, I can't see how it could approach the usability of a CMIT series, MKH 60, or 70.
  13. Has anyone else been pressured to buy your own liability and umbrella policies for your equipment to submit to the studio before they will pay your kit?
  14. I'm excited to see it. It sounds like an amazing piece of gear..
  15. Deva 32 Watts LCD Screen ~ 25 watts Interface computer ~ 25-100 watts The QL-1 has two slots.. Haven't tried making toast yet and my meter reads it pulling 60watts with everything lit all the way up.
  16. I'm building a death ray of course..
  17. I don't think that you can just jump between blocks like that by changing the crystals. The pr-72's aren't the same as the stuff in the higher TV blocks.. Aka grey comteks.
  18. I'm thinking I may have over-killed.
  19. That's great! I will threaten to use the staple gun if I'm well enough acquainted with the actor.
