  1. Mine is on the base. I usually run a KTek coiled cable from the pole to my bag. Useful to have a right angle connector even if the cable comes out of the base as it can minimise damage if you need to put the pole down quickly.
  2. I have an internally cabled VDB I use for doc work. I have no real frame of reference when it comes to internally coiled poles as it's the only one I've used but it seems fine to me noise wise, within reason obviously. You do have to be a little gentler when swinging the pole if it's fully extended than if it was an external cable as it will slap against the inside of the pole. The pole doesn't seem to collapse fully regardless of what I do with cable though. Only by about an inch so not a huge issue. The collars on the other hand are a whole other issue. Don't get me started on those damn things.
  3. Have used the AA versions. Not really built to last. We got through a fair few on a feature. And yes, they are very sensitive to phone interference, but as Richard says this can have it's advantages.
  4. I live pretty close to the Queens Arms so will do my best to be there if I'm in town.
  5. Thanks Brent. That is good to know.
  6. I appreciate that. I was merely asking if there were any specific issues people had encountered with that block, , more out of interest than anything, perhaps if people had found it to be particularly troublesome I would make early provision for hiring some gear locally. Obviously there are a huge amount of variables and I appreciate your issue you have with such posts/questions.
  7. It's just it wasn't mentioned 'tis all. I'll rephrase. Has anyone had particular problems using Block 24 in the LA area?
  8. 24 not so good then? Just wondered as I have some gear that'll work in the upper reaches of 24 and i'll be in LA over next couple of weeks. (am UK based).
  9. THanks Diego. To Maplins it is for me.
  10. Thanks guys. That teradek solution looks great but a little pricey. As I said, I'm happy to down convert/come out composite from the EX3. I believe there is a monitor out that would allow this. Need to source an affordable transmitter.
  11. Has anyone here used a wireless video monitor in their bag? I will be doing a project shooting on an EX3 and for various reasons would like to experiment with sending picture from camera to a wireless monitor in my bag. Would this be possible/afffordable. I presume I would have to use composite out rather than the HD SDI O/P. Forgive my ignorance in this area, I know little of the ways of video.
  12. I was using G3s in Juarez in April around 640 if memory serves and had no problems.
  13. Hi Matt Thanks for the reply, much apreciated. Turns out the director balked at the idea of recording audio seperately in any form and we are now using a F3. Makes things easier. Thanks again. Alex
  14. Hi All I have a gig on Monday where I'm recording straight into the pix to avoid using the Red Epic I/Ps. I don't suppose anyone knows what, if any offset would be required on the Pix Inputs to ensure sound was in sync with the picture on the camera. I'd be going into the Pix analogue from my 442. Many thanks in advance. Alex
  15. I'd love to come along but am otherwise engaged Sunday. Maybe next time!
  16. I have to say I agree I'm in the process of deciding on a recorder and having a compilation, if you like, of potential issues, hearsay or not, can be helpful and saves a huge amount of time. Just my .02. Having said that if I owned the product the manufacturer would be my first call if I wanted an actual solution to a problem
  17. I do both. Started in post. Recently moved into production work. Just shot a documentary in Juarez on which I will be doing the post. Alex
  18. Beer is good. Based in West London. Also away until late April, definitely up for a hook up anytime after that.
  19. Has anyone ever used one of those Kitcool support things? I like the idea but it looks a little awkward and restrictive.
  20. Maybe the judicious use of some compression in the mix wouldn't go amiss. Help control the dynamic range of the recording.
  21. Thanks guys. Will follow up.
