  1. Thanks for the review Pascal, very informative. For the 4017 vs cmit, you said they are nearly identical. Is it possible to elaborate more on those 2? In terms of reach and off axis rejection I can understand them to be the same but sound quality wise is it really that similar? If so that would be a great money saver over the cmit.
  2. In my experiences for cart use the m216p7 works fine raised high up with the odd static or hit. Until you get on set with a bad fizz unit or teredek system or wireless video system which can overpower the comteks totally, in which case I found the bst 75-216 with a phase right antenna or mini might to work the best in those situations.
  3. Sorry, currently in a part of the world with no youtube access.
  4. May have been covered before. But are these interchangeable with 4oo series rx and tx? ie LR with SMQV or LMb with 411?
  5. This dolly grip is Chris Fisher. One of the finest from vancouver
  6. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ynZphQlnsIM From the League with Seth Rogan, no one else in the room really understood why it was so funny to me.
  7. Wait. Your SRB is block 24 and your ifb is in block 24 as well? Even with a 411 next to a t4 you would get a lot of spray. Lectro recommends at least 2 block distance between your ifb and talent wireless.
  8. Overall the consensus will be 411a will give you the best range and performance however with the SRb, with the cost of slightly less range you get a lighter dual receiver, only other downside being no internal batteries and need to be powered through battery distro or the extra battery sled attachment. In a real world situation how different the range is between the two will vary but in rf heavy locations with a bad block you would live with a 411a and probably barely make it with the srb...but that would have to be a really rf dense location.
  9. Nice build! Have been wanting to do similar with my gator pop up cart that I used to use for live sound. How did you mount the 788 so that it won't fall when you angle up the rails?
  10. Have both wms and smqvs. For my work 80% narrative and the rest being reality and doc I much prefer the smqvs. The wm is great for battery life and when size doesn't matter but I really dislike the connector for it. I purchased the ta5 adapter but still makes it slower to mic people up not as simple as clicking in a ta5 straight in and your also left with a somewhat bulky adapter. With frustrating costumes it can be a pain as its a quite a bit bigger and needs the adapter if you want to use your ta5 lavs. On the plus it's super handy to have and is always satisfying to say I don't mind my tx getting wet and being the hero with the little extra rental rate You can terminate the lavs to the wm connector but for me the adapter was more cost effective so I could just swap lavs between tx
  11. I too started with the senny 160s great for the price and worked quite well for the level of shows I was doing. Ultimately the bigger shows I started doing the further village would get giving me range problems and the more weirder looks I got when I offered huge cans to them. "What do you mean I can't use my iPod earbuds?!" Eventually I upgraded to lectro ifbs but actually still get asked for the "big cans" every now and again. Right before I upgraded if I had range issues to village I would use a g3 as an ifb and attached it to the senny RS tx and just left it at village.
  12. Zaxcom mini recorder would be better than a zoom if you just want to record straight to it. Otherwise a lectrosonics sm is small and with a countryman b6 lav the rig can be hidden very well, a couple plants and you've got some pretty good coverage oh and the sound mixer would gladly add ifbs for the director to listen to If your really adamant on not hiring a proper sound mixer to do a hidden cam show where dialogue is important... If you have some budget a Zaxcom qrxQifb system hopped on cam can work and you can get an erx for the director to listen to. Or you can do the same with a lectro SRB hopped to cam and the director can listen to it from the cam headphones if accessable.
  13. Saw this and thought it was so cool. Music meets Minority Report tech. Cut to about 13:28 for her song.
  14. Just caught the last eps on my pvr haha yea pretty cool especially when he knocks buddy out with his pole. Wonder if it's actually the boom op that got the cameo or if it was an actor. Gear seemed legit though we all know if they wanted to be really authentic he would have had a much bigger bag with a ton of rx's on him haha
  15. Me and the DIT have been trying to figure it out as well. We've both tried multiple emails waited for hours and constantly checked the spam. Something must be wrong with their site right now.
  16. Sounds great for controlled indoor sets. I like to pull it out if I can but being a card it picks up a lot of bg noise. I use the rycote invision mounts with mine. I think the 7 fits the km184/5
  17. Hey everyone thanks for the input..just gave the 1st AC a pretty good talking to about it but it was partially my fault for not checking with the DP or even looking at the camera and assumed the 1st knew what he was saying. Phil I was feeding sync to the RED one with a sync box and was getting the link icon in the VF (always checked that to make sure they didnt forget to plug in the sync box) so the tc metadata on cam is a bit messed up. Unfortunately the production didn't have a DIT for the first week so none of the sound was synced but I explained the situation to him today and we did a few tests. I asked him to dl wave agent to change it back to 23.98 so final cut/premier wouldn't get confused. In redcine x when he tried to auto sync with tc it didn't work but at least the first frame matches with the smart slate so he can sync it visually that way..or at absolute worse USE THE CLAP!!! A little more work for the DIT...but his fault for not being here the first week haha
  18. Hey everyone, So I've been on a feature for the past 2 weeks. Using my 744 to jam tc to a denecke sb3 which is strapped to the red camera, everything is keeping in sync and all is well.....until the 1st AC just told me that they were shooting at 23.98 fps then entire time when he had told me they were shooting true 24fps at the beginning of the shoot (and I even asked him multiple times). So I've just switched over to 23.98 but the entire first week was recorded in 24fps. Now I know everything can be easily changed with wave agent and that tc isn't burned onto the file or anything so thats no problem. But my question is will changing all the files to 23.98 now cause everything to be out of sync since I had jammed synced camera to 24? Would it be better to leave it and let post deal with it or to change all the files to 23.98 with wave agent? Thanks for any advice!
  19. Very cool, is there any noticeable delay? I still love the idea of the Teradek system so that anyone with a tablet or smart phone can see frame, just wish they fixed the delay and connection issues. I hear RED is coming out with their own proprietory wireless monitor as well.
  20. I've used the 12' one for about a year before I got my ambient pole. It's super light compared to a lot of other poles I've tried (ktek ambient psc), like ridiculously light it almost feels like cheating, it's sturdy and held up in some pretty extreme rain. Personally I liked the locking systems, it only needed a quarter turn on the knuckle and it was locked up. At the time I was using the huge rode blimp system which made it bend a little more than usual but after getting a proper rycote system it was fine. The downsides I had with it however is that it's really skinny and unless you have smaller hands it was uncomfortable to grip a lot of the times and I remember almost dropping it at full extend once (caught it with the cable ) because of that. Also the actual finish on the pole is not as sleek as the higher end booms, it's noisy and makes quite the sound when you extend/unextend it as well when your hand slides over it. So it took some time to get used to it and avoid handling noise. As well I can't see how you would setup an internal cabling system for this boom and the seller even told me he couldn't (when I bought it) which is one of the main reasons I opted for a proper ambient pole. A lot of things are missing in the details and you can definitely tell if you're used to using higher quality booms BUT for the price point it was a good buy and for people starting out who are budgeted to like a rode boom pole or a smaller ktek/ambient it's something to look into and is also good to have as a backup. Not sure on his return policies but I'd try it out first ofc
