  1. I have a 2,4GHz system whith 250mW power and has very bad reception. If somebody walk between antenas or move transmiter ( when is put on steadicam) lose signal. This is problems whith high frequency - works great whith free line of view between antenas or whith static transmiter and receiver. I think 900 MHz works better but I don`t saw on work any of that. Anybody have one 900MHZ video transmitter to tell us if is better than 2,4 GHz? Dragos
  2. I agree, Cantar is an amaizing machine, can be use it without mixer . Has very good preamps and limiters. But it`s alone on market . I like to chose, and I like much more a mixer with record capabilities instead a recorder whith rotative faders. Deva need a good mixer, cannot be use it alone. And if they can combine their Mix 12( by the way , how much cost?) with recording parts from DEVA, why not? Wich can be disadvantages of a "one box"? If broken I have a Fostex PD 4 or 744 for backup, anyway, and anything can be fixed. Sonosax pretend that their devices will cost bettwen 4300 and 11900 Euro. http://www.sonosax.com/SONOSAX%20NEWS%20satis.pdf I`m curios too how they can, from a 17000 mixer and 4900 recorder ,can combine and result one box for about 10000 Euros?? Fostex produce this kind of "all in one box" too (http://www.fostex.com/index.php?file=products/digital/digital_multitrackers) , but it`s only entry level, like Edirol I think. Sound Devices can combine 422 and 744 in one box , too, and I`m shure they`ll have succes. Because market ask for that mixers whith record capabilities, for a new "NAGRA". Dragos
  3. TC slate was good when sync was made directly in telecine, but that times was gone 3, 4 years ago. Is waste of time and money, because InDaw from Aaton make sync better and faster whith normal slate. An InDaw is 100 times cheaper than a telecine, and ( in Europe at least) nobody pay to sync in telecine , where one hour to sync is much more expensive than in NL system ( even in Avid). I was working in a post productions house ,whith a telecine ,few years ,and we don`t use in last 5 years anymore TC slate for sync, even if was use it in production because " they have it". The only reason for TC slate is when you have a complicate videoclip whith playback , and need to know where to sync the music, if wasn`t take guide track. And is very usefull for office producers, of corse, to know when start the work .... :-)) Dragos Stanomir
  4. Any new users of EDIROL R4 PRO? How is sound because on R4 isn`t so good? Anybody use it on comercials ? Thanks, Dragos
  5. Looks very nice. How much cost? Hope so in next future they`ll combine this mixer whith Deva and make only one device. Allready Sonosax go in this direction at an afordable price, (around 10000$), and I think all company wich has good mixers can chase their example. I think everybody wants only one piece instead of two ( ceaper than recorder + mixer, no cable betwen, no waste space, easy to transport, only one A/D conversion, etc) Dragos
  6. I don`t see it on work but cost almost 4-5000$. It`s too expensive for sound department, because this isn`t paid in equipment.
  7. Too bad they don`t produce any more. Modulus cost 3000$ ( discontinued too) but not so good in signal quality and range, if is in movement. What is your maximum range whith very good signal? I don`t think is about progress, it`s more about new rules in RF: only consumer frequencies alowed is 2,4GHz. Thank you very much, Dragos stanomir
  8. Not at all. For POV was use it a real tank. Not for interior sound was my complain (because walls was cover in leather and foam like in real tanks), but for noise of "box" in movement, especial on Romanian streets ... Almost 40% of film actions was inside that box whith 5 caracters( 2 in front and 3 back) all the time speaking, and car rig running. I had to use lavaliers COS 11, Schoeps cmc41 on magicarm put on the roof, CUB 01 for front seats. Was a pain. But , for my satisfactions , not even one line need ADR. Was put an original interior tank engine noise under voices and whith shooting "box" noise sounds real, and dialog very clear. See more about that film at : http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0819895/#comment Dragos Stanomir
  9. In Romania, closer:-). Because all east socialist countries had the same war equipment in 1989. Was a movie about romanian `89 revolution named "Hartia va fi albastra"
  10. Was an interior of tank whith detachable walls, to have space for light and camera.
  11. Yes I had a seatbelt, but maximum speed was 20Km/h ( see the picture off all camera car), so I put it just for insurance. With this equipment I don`t need return because is use`it with 35mm or 16 mm camera film. I put DAT on confidence monitoring so that`s enough. When I shoot comercials on videocameras I use SD 744 & 422, so no problems. For monitor audio distribution I have a Comtek M 216 in talkback output for boom operator to comunicate, and from DAT output another Comtek or wire for videoassist ( output from Dat on direct out not on confidence!). If I need more outputs I use an "Y" cable. Dragos Stanomir
  12. I take a secondhand AD 145, 3 years ago and works great. Only once the gaffer put 380V instead of 220 on my cart - at Fostex PD4 I have to change all AC/DC convertor- 500 $ , at AD 145 I change just fusee-0,1 $. And I put all cart on bateries. Very good and quiet preapms, no problems whith rain or direct sun.My only complain is gain buton wich isn`t soft , has 4 steps, but on new mixers they solve this. I have SD 422 and 744 but I use only on comercials. On movies I go whith AD 145. Maybe if Sonosax will make this year their mixer with HardDisk, under 10,000$ as they said, I`ll take one of that, but till then ...
  13. Hi everybody, I`m new here and I like very much this forum. Let`s put my cart for begining. I make it modular to be easyer in transport, and to take only what I need in "unfrendly" places. Best regards, Dragos Stanomir
  14. Thank you very much for link, I foud it. But unfortunately I found price list too, with actual proctucts. Auch!!! I knew Sonosax it`s expensive but not so far. SX-ST mixer series with 8 chanels cost over 20,000 $ !!! Almost double than CS 208? Maybe for this reason isn`t so popular on market. I doubt they can make from a 20,000$ mixer and 6.000$ recorder (MINIR 82) a device under 10000$ ... And if is over 10,000 I prefer Cantar because are older and better. If they can produce uder 10000 , whith all characteristics of SX-ST for shure will break the market. I`ll wait and hope so Sound Devices , and not only, will chase their example. Because producers of good mixers cand put an A/D convertor and HardDisk recorder inside of case , and obtain a compact device . All of us will be happy with that.
  15. I know Sonosax are very expensive. Hope so they have preamps and limters at least closer in quality with SD. On Sonosax site aren`t any news about it? Any links to see specs? We have to wait 10 more monts to release? Ouch... As you say "Let the race begin" ,because the compact devices will be the future.
