    I ask for a COI in my deal memo before I show up to set. I'm noticing some clients don't know what that is or don't have one. Recently one of my clients consulted their insurance expert who said that I was the one who had to prove that my gear was insured, not the other way around. Does everybody ask for these, and if so how often?

    just flew back from Nairobi Kenya last week, carrying on a pelican 1510 and my mix bag. got stopped several times before i made it through security. whenever someone asked me what all of that gear was i said "film equipment, so I can capture your beautiful country". immediately got an approved carry-on tag haha.

    A topic close to my heart. I'm spending January on a doc in Africa, and tried to pack as light as possible. The best I could do was a pelican 1650, a deuter travel backpack, and my mix bag with a nomad. It's working well so far, but I have lots of ideas for things to change on the next trip.

    put the G3 AF output at +12, and give it all the gain you can in the nomad. you might just hear something.

    the 24fps version of the first hobbit had some of the worst motion blur i've ever seen. by-product of shooting HFR and cutting in half? i don't know but i skipped the 3d version.

    there's a reason it's still being made after 40 years. i prefer the 416 to the mkh60 as well, though i usually use an mkh50. what idiots...

    unless they live in a faraday cage they are exposed to plenty of RF regardless of lifestyle choices.
