thanks for contacting us.
We have been made aware that with a particular batch of socks, the tension is too high, so especially on smaller Nano Shields the baskets can resonate. We've identified the problem and worked on different solutions. One fixed it once and for all. We made a new lining based on our 3D-Tex material. This new socks dampens all basket vibrations very efficiently. We achieved -20dB handling noise isolation. Also we've made this version water repellent.

So, if you could kindly share your shipping address, and the model size you bought, we will ship a prototype of the new lining free of charge. As a small appologiy we'll also include some chroma socks you can pull over the 3D-Tex for green, or blue screen shots.

 

Hi Guys. Just purchased Rycote Nano Shield Kit NS4-DB and am using it with Panamic Maxi, Sanken CS3 and Lectro HM TX. Have exact same issue described by swordinhand. Baffling

New Mexico, lovely pictures but my point is that any audio devices attached to camera are immediately jettisoned when it goes on to Movi or Ronin, including my tentacle sync box which is the smallest and lightest sync box on the planet. My Boom Op has better things to do than constantly run after camera to attach or reattach audio devices. Just saying.

Mike West your solution of sending a guide to camera which then embeds audio to video assist via sdi is something I've done, and it worked pretty well but this is now an everchanging landscape where a lot of video assist is being done via wireless i.e. teradek which changes our set up yet again. I agree RP Sharman that camera hops should be an extra rental, and often this is the quickest route to the answer of whether to send audio to camera or not.

Would like some input on this question please. I'm a sound recordist working in South Africa, and over the last 10 years or so it became common practice to send a guide audio track to the digital cameras that we've been shooting on. Alexa and Red and more often than not 2 to 3 cameras. Is anyone still doing this? I'm of course talking about decent budgeted features or dramas, where sound and picture are going through a post production facility to generate dailies. Also where TC sync boxes are used to lock TC. I feel that with the auto syncing capabilities of most editing software that this is becoming more and more redundant and personally would like to shoot more film style. I understand the value of a guide track on lower budgeted productions where dailies need to be generated by the DIT or where software such as plural eyes needs to be used to sync the sound. I also feel that it's a waste of comms units, that can be better served elsewhere. And lastly but not leastly, I would also prefer that the director and producers listen to sunk (sic??) sound rather than a wireless guide, that could be prone to drop out or glitches. Your thoughts and feedback please.

Also forgot to mention my current bugbear, whenever cameras go handheld, which is becoming increasingly often, the first thing to be jettisoned is the wireless guide track and don't get me started on the Movi or Ronin.

Sorry my keyboard wonky on my iPad since screen change. I set codes about 10mins apart so jump was obvious. Our post facility would then manually sync the few out clips.

Here is excerpt from correspondence between Rental House and Arri.

'In the current SUP 2.0.14 is a bug related to the symptoms you explained to us, we have been able to reproduce this here in Munich.

Our engineers are working on a fix for this with high pressure already.

From the point of now we don’t know when a fix will be ready or if it will be implemented in the next SUP release.

Sorry for not having better news at the moment, and the inconvenience caused from our side.'

I've worked on Arri Alexa's for years without having to use sync boxes. I jam directly from 788T and good to go. Jam again at lunch, no issues. The Amira is new camera and in my research learnt that it had different clock and it was recommended to use sync box. It's unfortunate that the firmware has a bug but I'm sure it'll be sorted out very soon.

I'm currently on a Feature in South Africa and we're having the same issue. Between DIT, rental house and ARRI, they've confirmed its a firmware bug. What seems to be happening is the camera is randomly reverting to its internal clock. This is irrespective of whether you have a time code source attached to camera or not. We're shooting on two Amira's and a Alexa Mini. I've been using my brand new Tentacles, which are fantastic btw, so this threw me for a loop, immediately thinking it was a Tentacle issue. However as I said ARRI have confirmed the bug in correspondence with Rental house. The Alexa mini does not have any issues much like it's bulletproof bigger brother.

Had similar idea today, run a duplex cable to IFB200 on a stand with its own batt.

I have a stand for my Lectro shark fin with 10m cable which I get away from my cart.

Could the IFB200 share that stand without causing interference?

I'm on verge of ordering an IFB200 and ERX2TCD system to handle my TC and Scratch audio needs.

Quite an expensive outlay down here at the tip of Africa where 12 of our R's gets only 1 of your mighty $'s. Exchange rate nightmare.

I'll be using ERX's on camera only and I'm usally pretty close to set.

It's 2015 and I'm curious to know if the IFB200 has better range than the IFB100 as I'm not keen to go down the amp and corner antenna route right away. The reply from a detailed mail I sent to Zaxcom was curiously unsatisfying.

Has anyone managed to streamline or refine the amp and antenna system anymore than previously stated in this post?

Any new revelations will be gratefully received.

Also got advice from Alan Gehardt here who's using setup based on Billy, Jan and Jeff's, thanks Alan.

But I'm still wavering. Do I just gets some lockits and continue with my G3's on cam and suffer the slings and arrows of the cam dept ? or do I take the plunge and go for the 1 unit Zaxcom solution which is so appealing on paper?

Hoping to get some more encouraging nudges before my big purchase
