  1. Zaxcoms patent (pending) is U.S. only. I don't think there is any question of infringement at the moment since they've not sold any in the US.
  2. Are there still no plans for slate mic functionality? Thanks, C.
  3. pfft.... done it quicker than that for drama Well ok, not quite as quick as that. But I've worked with a lot of ADs who think thats how long it should take you to mic someone.
  4. Now that is a mini bag! Just needs an NP35. (or neater still, if the 633 could output DC from its L-types on hirose pin 2 and 3) What material have you used for that?
  5. http://www.billingham.co.uk/pages/index.php very popular with the camera types.
  6. I was expecting some loss, this is why I asked them. The catch-all statement of "its compensated for" seemed very unsatisfactory. Usually we think of it something like -1dB per metre and -1dB per connector, or some rule of thumb like this, but "its compensated for" suggests you could have a kilometre of string and a 1/4 wave whip on the end.
  7. When I asked PSC about using my other antennae with the multi, they 'suggest you use the antennas provided with your receivers'. Unfortunately they wouldn't explain why to me, just that it is so. I was also interested in finding out a little about calculating loss in associated cabling and all they could say was 'There is no difference in loss when used with the RF Multi SMA because the associated loss is compensated by the gain structure of the antenna distribution circuitry." I asked for some clarification on this but it seems if they are pressed for any detail, comms stop.
  8. The sweet spot for the IR is about 10mm away from the window, pointing directly down on it. Without a doubt the worse thing about 2040's is the IR fob, (or "error fob"). I've had mine 3 years so although I am getting quite good at fobbing now, its still 50/50. Apparently sunny conditions don't help the IR signal but I wouldn't be able to comment on that since I'm in Scotland.
  9. Yes you are correct, I've 4 couplers which work very well for me. There are 3 Hawk Woods LA-18 and one custom one with a USB charger. They'll make whatever you want, within reason link below http://www.hawkwoods.com/products/cables_and_plugs/cables_by_output_plug/hirose_output.php?mainMenuItemToSlide=10
  10. can hirose pin 2 and 3 not be wired for output, and have a flying o/p lead off it?
  11. Rocking Vin! I love my RK6 Hardly ever see them around...
  12. that sound-guys solution looks very nice indeed! Not individually switchable but still. I'm kind of at ease with my melee of hirose splitters. I think on balance it was the easiest/cheapest/lightest way to power 12 different things. (12 including my strip of LED's, yet to be figured out though) Yes a projector stand definitely looks more solid. But the old camp stool is only 600g, so whenever (and wherever) the camera tripod comes out I'll always have my wee stool.
  13. Ha, I'm with you Tim, But believe it or not, that's actually in the dictionary! vb Cheifly US a past participle of 'Get' Who knew!?
  14. they're actually made by petrol! here's a link where I got mine. Oh haha, not that stable.. its just a tall camping stool so it'll fall over if not balanced properly on it. It IS super light though so I've always got it with me even just to save putting the bag down on the ground while setting up. I use it for every static setup.
  15. I'll add my bag here for the record. Nothing too fancy, but a nice sounding analogue bag. On one hand I yearn for a smaller bag, but if I've managed to fill up a 617 I don't see how I could squeeze it all in anything smaller without losing half the kit/functionality. I'd like to see if I could get all of this (but with 633) into one of the small petrol bags. Doubt it though.
  16. What on earth is going on with that screen protector???
  17. I think its a clever move by SD to increase CL6 sales. I for one would never have bothered thinking about getting a CL6 but now we're all thinking of all the ways to use the 12 channels effectively, and eventually resolving that by far the best solution is having a CL6. Well played SD.
  18. Any drama these days should really be recording ISO's. You say you're producing this TV drama? But buying sound gear?
  19. I remember thinking that at the time too ... give a sharp suck through the teeth upon hearing "HD" from the producer.. "Ooh that'll be the HD sound kit then... call it double, just this once.. cos I like you."
  20. Just the thing for 'HD sound' to go with those HD pictures apparently.. http://broadcastengineering.com/get-hd-sound-hd-pictures-dpa-microphones-ibc-2013
  21. Came across the same article today... I'll be interested to hear some reviews. source http://dpamics.smugmug.com/search/?searchWordsShort=4017&searchType=InAlbum&AlbumID=23776784&x=-1021&y=-42
