I am well past my 2nd vaccine vaccination, any questions
Bob Schuck replied to MartinTheMixer's topic in Current
To parrot Jeff's experience I've had both of my shots (Moderna) and didn't feel either of them. The only side effect was a sore shoulder 24 hours later and that went away by the next morning. When you get your chance at the vaccine take it you won't be sorry. -
Over the years I have done many doc shoots in courtrooms during trials, and I've learned a lot. First nothing happens in the courtroom without the judge's permission so go into the courtroom with your hat in your hand and say please a lot, be respectful of the courts employees, it's their world and they know it. Second, I have never been allowed to swing a boom in the courtroom during the trial. I have always had to rely on the courts AV system or planted mics on the lawyer's tables and in front of the judge and witness box. The Sanken cubs used wirelessly have worked out quite well. Jim's good advice and my experiences hopefully will help, good luck.

Needing help with the Neumann kmr 81i switches
Bob Schuck replied to weaveofkev's topic in Equipment
The two switches on the KMR82 are off when pushed down toward the XLR end and on when pushed up. I've had one for decades and it sounds as good today as when I bought it. -

I've been booked to work on a Doc in Iceland in early July and after a week of research I haven't found any info on available wireless mic frequencies or rules there . If anyone has shot there or has any info about what frequencies are available I would really appreciate it. Thanks in advance. Bob S.

My first equipment investment in 1984 was a Nagra 4.2 and a Schoeps CMC 4/MK41 everything else I needed to work was either rented or borrowed.

A couple of years ago, I picked up a second hand SRa from a cameraman who had the same complaints about the SRa as you have. I just thought that he wasn't using it right until I started using it and had the same problems. After trying everything I could think of to figure out what the problem was, I took the case off to check out the insides and found that the antenna connections had never been soldered to the circuit board. Two minutes with a soldering iron and the SRa worked like a champ with range almost as good as my 411s.

Cell phone patch for on camera interview
Bob Schuck replied to Jeff Hall's topic in General Discussion
I have done this many times and what works best is to put the cellphone on speaker and place it just out of frame. That way both people can hear each other and you can record both sides of the interview without jumping thru too many hoops. Bob S. -
Try Harbor Freight, they have a lot of odd ball stuff like that. Bob Schuck

Using Lectrosonics SRa and SMa transmitters for camera hop.
Bob Schuck replied to mpotter850's topic in Equipment
I use that same set up when I use a camera hop and I have no trouble getting good levels without overloading the SMa transmitters. Is your cable wired for servo bias inputs, is it wired for line level? Check your cables, my guess is that is the source of the problem. Bob S. -

Need Canadien mixer for Adventure type show

Looks like the money pit on Oak Island has lured in another group for a once in a lifetime experience, again. Bob S. -
The Zaxcom web site says "Maxx is a powerful new tool for your sound bag. It’s an audio mixer, RF transmitter, recorder and timecode reader/generator. – arriving Winter 2013". If this true, I'm bummed. The Maxx is perfect for a lot of the little jobs I do, and I was looking forward to getting one this spring. Bob
