  1. worked with him a few days on a commercial. unfailingly polite and professional.
  2. i remember hearing this piece and thinking that it was some classical piece i'd never heard that was plucked out for the soundtrack, before discovered it was composed by georges delerue....
  3. trivia i enjoy: jimmy iovine worked on the gold record sent into space on voyager with carl sagan & ann druyan, which may very well be the longest preserved artifact of humankind.
  4. in my experience it was a flat $80 fee for a loaner while my machine (a 664 that had an issue with a preamp) was repaired. (i think it ended up being, and i could be wrong here, around $8 a day).
  5. i feel like a bigtime lunkhead asking this, but... i bought the last bag of these cable clamps at my local home depot last year. i used them for wrapping up various cables & lavs and found them to be handy little things. i went today to go get more and they didn't have them in stock. i have long since discarded the packaging and don't know the proper name for them. queries to the employees were met with blank stares or disinterested shrugs. i've spent an hour or so trying to find them online and cannot. on the off-chance that anyone else uses these things, can you tell me the name so i can go order some more online? i'd also recommend them as a useful organizational tool to folks, if only i could find the name/model. thanks....
  6. i've had good luck with a red oxx safari bag - american made, lifetime guarantee, fits plenty. also has side pocket design where you can mount it on the handle of rolling pelican cases.
  7. uncabled aluminum ktek pole w. a ktek shark has worked out great for me.
  8. i've been using cubs frequently lately, in a double decker bus, in a convertible mini cooper, and a convertible jaguar. with the bubblebee wind covers i got NO wind noise (even when the jag was going at 100+ mph)... checked the lavs on the actors and the cub's sounded better (negated seatbelt noise, actors could swivel their heads as much as they wanted, and less wind noise from flapping shirts). they've come in handy and have been great problem solvers on stressful car shoots.
  9. upside down w. short stock antenna in a bag works fine (for me anyway) on bag jobs - noticeably better than m-216 tx. have a BST-25 and a BST-75 on a cart, use a mini mite on the former and the remote audio miracle whip on a lectro dipole (just because i had a dipole i wasn't using) on the later and haven't been able to discern a difference in a casual test. on shotmaker w. bag in the cab used the BST-75 w. a mini might antenna mounted on the speedrail as high as i could and it worked fine when accompanied by a please-follow-as-close-as-you-can-safely request to follow van driver.
  10. bst-75 works great in a bag or a cart.
