  1. I have a 40 year old AKG C414 that I recently had serviced by AKG(Harman), don't see why you shouldn't be able to get your 452 back up to spec.
  2. That almost sounds like the Yamaha that got their digital mixer line started back in the day... remember the DMP7? Have 02R96V2 at home, DM2000VCM at work, love 'em! A bit of Yamaha history...
  3. I did some of this ZaxNet juggling when I was setting up my bag. Eventually I connected my RX's(RX900S and QRX100Q) to inputs 4-6 of the Nomad, saving the first three ins for hardwires/booms, and setting my TRX's to Unit Code 4-6 respectively.
  4. I have the original Chilkats and liked them so much I also bought a pair of Chilkat II's. They were on sale at EMS for $75 so that was a no-brainer. When I was out in Yellowstone a few winters ago these boots proved themselves. So many great suggestions here...
  5. Love the hair dryer test. Definitely looking into this mic...
  6. Current incarnation after wiring the bag and testing Zaxnet control of TRX900AA's...
  7. Was just getting ready to leave work after playing with Nomad all day, guess I'll be here a little longer... :-)
  8. #1953 is running 7-30H #3408 is running 7-81 #3409 is running 7-81 Did not upgrade #1953 past 7-30H due to the boundary warning in the release notes...
  9. Was doing some more configuration of the sound bag, setting up Zaxnet between the Nomad and my three TRX900AA's. One is SN1953, bought some years ago. The two newer ones are sequential SN's 3408/9 bought earlier this year. RX's are RX900S and QRX100QIFB. I have Trams setup for each TX. While testing I noticed that the older TX shows quite a hotter input level than the newer TX's for all three mics. Initially thinking it a mic problem I hooked up a XLR-3F -> 3-pin Lemo using a Shure A15TG tone generator to each TX with the same results. Has anyone else seen this "old vs. new" level difference? Bag goes out for it's debut next week doing some 5D shooting at a culinary education center.
  10. I'm using a Tram TR-50 successfully on my first TX,, matter of fact I'll be wiring up a couple more for my newest TRX900AA's this week.
  11. This may help: Waiting on my cable so I can get started building mine...
  12. Pretty awesome that they've managed to get 16 channels worth onto a Yamaha YGDAI card... been telling my department that we need to get one for our Yamaha LS9-32 which would get great use out of it's functionality... DUGAN-MY16 Automatic Mixing Controller Card That being said I'm really looking forward to the Zaxcom implementation...
  13. The parts are in! Still waiting for the 200' of CA3PS26 cable though...
  14. Waiting to see the official upgrade numbers, but as a Nomad 6 user it looks like I'm in a pretty good area pricewise to go to a 10, especially if it is an unlock kind of deal. Still want to end up with a 12 eventually...
  15. Did an interview shoot with John Quinones of "What Would You Do" earlier today... Nomad mix of two hardwired lavs to Canon 5D/60D, isos on Nomad. Got it in an old Porta-Brace until the Petrol 614 gets here... BTW my new method of level setting with the Canons is to set the Nomad tone generator to full scale, then adjust the camera input level until the meter reads just under the red clip indicator... five clicks or so with the TA5F at -35. Then I run a limiter on the output just to be safe... just scratch audio anyway, right? :-)
  16. Great thread. I have a PDF that I compiled from a rec.audio.pro thread many years ago that touches on those "people skills" issues though more from the recording studio perspective. Whenever I get a mentorship or internship student(my day gig is running a studio at a college where I also perform various other sound duties including location sound, FOH/monitors, etc.), one of their first assignments is to read it(and explain to me why!). The read is spicy at times, but isn't that how things go. Submitted for your reading pleasure... ami.pdf
  17. Checked out the teaser on their site... got me salivating a little bit... :-)
  18. Sweet. I'm in Jersey so it might be faster via a mothership trip(hell, sounds like a good day trip opportunity) than back to my dealer(ATS in MD)...
  19. Big loss for the sports television industry and the NFL... in my younger days I really wanted to work at their facility in Mount Laurel NJ. http://www.nfl.com/news/story/0ap1000000063643/article/steve-sabol-president-of-nfl-films-dies
  20. The Court of Two Sisters' bread pudding with whiskey sauce... had two months before Katrina when I was down for TapeOpCon at the Fairmont... also loved Cafe Dumonde and Cafe Beignet... a few other places I can't recall at the moment... gotta get back down to N.O.!
  21. Same take on things, different words, from a master...
