  1. Having used a mix of G2 and G3 systems over the weekend, I would stay with the 2s. Much better meter display, G2 units will drive a true line level out where the best I could get out of the G3s was -10 pushing all the settings. It was a very short hop set up so range was not a problem. The G2s just set up faster.
  2. I got a call from a general av house that had gotten a lightwave SS10 ( LWV 5168) in a package they bought. Doing a quick Google Search I cannot find any info on this item or what the rest of the system was. Can anyone fill in the info? Thanks
  3. Not mentioned is the fact in some situations, there is no answer. I did a corporate shoot the other day where the company opened a brand new stiff uniform shirt. After several attempts I realized it was not the mic placement but the fabric itself we were hearing. No they wouldn't allow treating the shirt, it had to be their pristine condition. Can you say boom?
  4. Using an old headphone cord may give you problems as these are usually not a shielded cable. And yes, if connecting to Sound Devices, float 3. Just had that discussion about the new pix recorder with them.
  5. Here's another you can't pass up. $300 p/day based on 12 hrs. NASCAR driver behind the scenes and race day pit crew. Production Company from Atlanta will provide the Audio pack. Sound Device 552. Do you have reality TV experience?
  6. I took a look at your website. I realize it's new, but there are many links that go no where.
  7. Just back from a surgery telecast Friday. The critical question: is the doc using a helmet? If so, I mount the mic in the helmet, off center from the mouth. Find the surgeon's assistant for information and assistance working the doc. I always obtain a sterile pad and have the tx and lav sterile wiped on it. If no helmet, then several of the mentioned options should work. In our case, we were shooting both a floor / shoulder cam and using a jib. I put an omni lav on the end of the jib to give me room coverage as well as doctor cya. We ran into a new twist this trip where every crew member had to have a less than 90 day TB test, flu shot and immunization records.
  8. Is the singer using a PA mic? If so, can you get a split feed from it. Depending on how "live room" vs how dry they want the recording, an overhead shot covering both the piano and bass about 4-6 feet out or for a dryer sound, can you get a good dynamic for the bass at about the bridge and a separate mic looking under the hood of the piano, assuming a grand piano. If you can get to a warm up / practice prior to the performance, experiment and listen, listen, listen.
