  1. Mirror, you seem to thrive on these threads. If you need this to fill up your day/evening you need to find a hobby. Picking a fight with our host is guaranteed to raise the ire of most here. Maybe some time, not soon I guess, you might be comfortable enough to be yourself here, and use your name. And, to quote the good senator, Google is our friend when dealing with the unknown; Audacity is great at recovering portions of corrupt files - there's some concise explanations on how to out there. It's not super geeky - just a little be geeky.
  2. Will have to get over and pick some up. Good to hear ipower is still the best
  3. Keep trying as long as the time and situation allows until the result is acceptable. It's a slippery path to let clothing noise go based on the assumption that because it's a reality show the acceptable quality is less.
  4. I would like to get an update on the current state of rechargeable 9 volt batteries for use in UM400 Tx. I'm swapping to all rechargeable batts - I'm happy with my AA solution and before I commit to a 9 volt system I thought if see what my esteemed colleagues have found to be the best; I'm currently leaning towards iPower but thought things may have changed in the last 12 months.
  5. Do you fill the XLR shell with epoxy or hot glue?
  6. It's starting to get way too complicated for a device that's really a 302 with ISO records.
  7. Hi Leo Take it to your local friendly SD authorized service - it is possible to clean the contacts, as usual it depends! on their condition. Usually the silicon switch panel is replaced. Having a tone button that works all the time will change your life!
  8. You can create a custom input to track routing scheme and have whatever input you like assigned to whatever track you wish. From there you should name each track with a meaningful and unique label - that makes it clear who is in what track in your sound report so post doesn't get confused
  9. Great idea - I'm waiting for my ride to pull back and take me to Darwin as I write this. Absolutely best time of the year to go there....
  10. Yes 633 does. But it would be faster and more understandable if done in a standard form on a piece of paper. Also may have problem with maximum number of characters....
  11. Tape is the most simple option - the same tape you use to place the lav head - with a slight amount of slack between the head and the secondary anchor (strain relief) point. If you have the luxury of a sympathetic wardrobe person and TIME - you can get the cable sewn in - but by the sounds of things you don't have this to work with. The way to learn what works is trial and error. If what you have done isn't usable then try another option - keep going until it is either usable or you run out of time to try other mic placement options; it's worth briefly explaining to the talent what the problem is as you go in each time so they don't wonder what the hell it is you are fiddling with.
  12. With you Mike - the B3 is just about indestructible..
  13. And this is why Zaxcom and Sound Devices both happily exist.
  14. I have been using mine for last two weeks - had it two months but I was on a 788 type job. I love pretty much everything about it - but mainly the lower weight and reduced power requirements. Not sure about Mix Assist. Tried it on my 788 and not entirely sold - on a smaller unit I'm more inclined to practice my mixing skills.
  15. Sorry but my point is you can't create a report from metadata that's not there

  17. The report only covers tracks (ISOs recorded) - if the track is not recorded there is no metadata from which to create the report. You will need to fall back to old school paper reports to cover these additional un-recorded sends
  18. I'm more interested in what the unacceptable questions are!
  19. As I have said on this topic in another thread: the 633 top scroll knob is pretty darn good (the 788 can be tricky). I have a Rii wireless keyboard but choose not to use it; why tempt fate?
  20. Your mic is wanting to get back there for a little European summer holiday. Lots on - Le Tour; World Cup; Octoberfest (should be back before that !)
  21. Custom headphone preset. Select what you want in each ear
  22. Got 633 and .Rii - but actually find the top scroll knob super easy (compared to 788 side scroll). Had it 6 weeks and no problems - only [emoji173]️
  23. Thanks senator, SD has a feature suggestion thread for their products on their forum (forum.sounddevices.com from memory) you are required to register before for you search or post. If you own their gear it's well worth the effort; you also get a pretty quick indication if what you want is technically possible
  24. The CCM8 is great- but $2,500 for occasional stereo fx at no extra charge, I think not
