This is the best time to come out and reconnect with old friends and meet some new ones as well. It doesn't matter if you are in the union or not. All experience levels are welcome. I always guarantee everything I sell. If you donor like it return out, but I would say a week to play around with it is usually suffice. Have sold a lot of things only thing returned is someone bought a mkh40 and decided he wanted a 50 took it back and sold to someone else

Was on a pilot this year where the card reader fried 3 of my CF cards, the Delkins but not the cheap transcends. Loaned them my reader and no more problems, so it does happen

I have always had great communication with post production on all my shows and go to as many mixes as I can when I am available. I have mixed both half hour comedies and 1 hr dramas and from my experience they are both completely different as far as how they are mixed. In the half hour I have been told they will try to extensively to use my mix track while in the 1 hr. shows they will never look at my mix track and go to iso's but use the booms as much as they can. I use 2 booms as much as I can. With wide and tight and now 3 cameras sometimes the norm in TV, we still fight very hard to boom as much as possible, I 100% wire if we are outdoors and always ere on the side of caution and wire if there is even the remotest chance we will need them indoors. Some actors I have worked with prefer not to be wired unless completely necessary and one actor we had to wire their jacket as they refused to be wired . On my last show I wired about 70% of the time indoors. If I sat back and just decided to play wires all the time, it would be easier but trying to get a boom overhead and get the few lines I can with a boom, I will. As outdated as they are getting to be I still try to provide the best mix that I can , the decision is left up to the dialogue and re-recording mixers at the end of the day and do try to provide as many options as I think will be necessary. I have done complete episodes on wires and have been on shows where I have wired 100% of the time, I think it varies show to show. Steve Morantz

I have numerous COS-11's and is still my go to, but I have found that the 4071's ( I have 2) bring out a few of our actors and actresses who are a bit nasally. I also have one 4063 without the windscreen and has turned into my go to on soft actresses

I had issues with Delkin CF cards a few months back, Huge amounts of the file would not be there, or were corrupted. The SD cards were fine. It tuned out I bought 5 from the same lot thatwere all bad. I switched to the San Disk Gold Professional cards and have not had one issue since.

Wanted to let everyone know that Chris Howland and I have organized a sound brunch at Rocco's Tavern this Sunday September 8th in Studio City from 10-2. We have a big portion of the patio area and there will be tv's for Football and food and drinks. It is a pay your own tab. Shot at the helipad at Griffith Park last week, same situation. Antennas facing downtown, RF nightmare block 21,22 removed the antennas and we were fine, luckily needed only 4 freqs.

I did notice the porch scene sounded heavily gated but otherwise thought the movie sounded fine, but was very aware of at 1 scene

Had mine work great over the summer in Puerto Rico and the first week I got back in town, it crapped out. Sent it back to Ron who fixed it and has been trouble free. Finishing up a movie right now shot on film 30 fps 48.048

Bought 2 sankens cs3's in lieu of the Cmits i usually use for the feature I am doing in Puerto Rico due to the humidity conditions. After 2 days went back to the Cmit. Have had 2 occasions in 38 days where the Cmits failed for a short time but after a little R&R they start right back up. I will be selling the Sankens when I return, good mic but The Cmit hands down. Debating the same thing right now. Going to be in a very humid area for a couple of months and usually use schoeps. I am purchasing 2 mkh50's and I am considering either the 416 or the cs3e. I am leaning towards the cs3e, but again will be extremely humid.

Muni has fixed many of my sankens over the years.

I also have a new BGG cart that is in its second day of use. Extremely lightweight and very pleased with it (as all the work Brett does) Will upload pictures In the next few days Steve

Took over a low budget union movie many many years ago (6 or 7 yrs ago). Rumors were going around that they were having money troubles, so I held the audio and the Dp held the film (that's how long ago it was) until the end of the show. 5 Days after depositing the checks we turned everything over. The next day they stopped payments on all checks. Given one BS story after another. We got The IA involved and our Local involved all to no avail. Several years later I see it on cable and again a bunch of us call the IA and are assured that they will have to pay and gain eventually told sorry... A year later I got a settlement from an attorney and got 15 cents on the dollar and that was better than most others. So I did write off that I would ever see a penny on it so was surprised to get the money but again have not and will not hopefully ever put myself in that position again.

I have a Petrol bag and when I did move my receivers into the bag, I was constantly getting RF hits and very limited range. When moved them outside the bag all was well again. Did scans with the receivers in and out of the bags and big difference . Knew the 744's had some issues but was surprised by how much RF spray I got from the 788.

I too have being using Movieslate for a few weeks and it has been great. Post loves it and I have stopped sending paper sound reports in. I had a tc cable ordered and still waiting for it as the parts are backed up (?) but since we never cut the camera the scripty has a denecke reader and writes down all the corresponding tc anyways so post always looks at her notes as we do several takes within the takes, but very happy with it and there is so much ore it will do as it gets farther along!! I had the burner on it's side for a year on one of my carts and there were no reported problems with it.

Did a night shoot last week at Griffith Park and both of my Schoeps CMIT's failed on the same scene for the first time, Temp changed and it got very damp very quick. In the 4 years plus have had them never had an issue with them the Schopes 41 sure but was surprised by it. Pulled out the 60 for only the second time in the last 4 years with no issues and all was well. Steve

Demoing the IFB System with the high gain antenna and amplifier on a pilot I am starting this week. Will let everyone know what I think when it's over. Steve
