  1. I mean the Rotary Encoder. I use for it for quickly changing the AES input levels. With the RX8+ there is no need for it.

Do you think that we shall ever get new firmware for the R4+. We all have some whishses, I guess.

NO! But the equipment is so complex with interferrence from recievers and other electronics noise that I just follow what they tell me.

Last time I heard a spill on the playback on a track wich was not recorded and at the end it was a faulty cable on my side. They tackled the problem and changed the pin soldering of the cable I bought in Germany. And it worked. So I don't mess with this kind of "black magic" for my understanding.

Hi Patrick, can you assign all the 8 pots as solo switches for the transmitters?

  3. Dear soundmen,

If I use a receiver connected to my recorder using the aes3 connection, will the accuracy of the receiver clock become the accuracy of my recorder timecode stability? Wisycom mcr42 has an accuracy of 2,5 ppm. What will that mean for my Sonosax Sxr4 ( the old one) getting external clock through aes?

Lectro src has the possibily for external clock, a Wisycom mcr42 has not.

    Thanks for helping me.

  4. Hi Bouke, Alex Booy here. How sees a workstation the difference between an interleaved 2 track (boom-lav) and a stereo mix file? By his extension?  Another topic, maybe but Avid MC sees the extension _1 thru _ 24 as tracknumbers. So if you try to import an audio file never use _x for anything else than track count. I used it for shooting day. Avid didn't import any day higher than 24.

  5. hi all (and Tom Duffy),

I just bought a Tascam DR 10 CH with Shure connectors.

I want to use it stand alone, without transmitter.

I tried it with a Shure WL93, but after switching the 'bias on/off' switch,

to 'off' I only hear sound for a few seconds and then it is gone.

I realise that it should be 'on'. Model is switched to 'Shure'.

Any idea what could be wrong?  the recorder and lav are new.

    battery too.

    Thanks, Alex

  6. Is anybody using Micron's  TX700s. The very small transmitter.

    And happy with it?

    Alex (Amsterdam)

thanks for the replies, I am curious if anybody is using the Mini transmitter TX700S. The one powered by two AAA's.

  7. We know that Sound Devices have accommodated this issue and Zaxcom have not, but what about other recorders that have timecode anyone know what they do?

Start / stop on any sample or on 00 of frames?

    Sonosax,

    Nagra,

    Fostex,

    Aeta,

    Roland,

    Tascam.

I have checked my Sonosax SXR4. I have imported some tracks into ProTools (Spot to original TC) As you can see in the enclosed picture. The recorded file doesn't start at frame bounderies. From the Avid forum: Nagra VI doesn't either. Best from Amsterdam, Alex
