  8. Hey everybody! Does anyone need a Utility Sound Technician in the Los Angeles area? I'll be graduating from school next month and would love to work with someone who I can stay on with and learn from. I am able to do many things from helping set up, scouting for sound issues on set (windows, ac, etc,) sound proofing, keeping record of broken and repaired equipment, soldering xlr cables, maintaining time cards, wiring mics on talent, planting mics, keeping track of wireless devices, organizing the trailer, 2nd boom, etc. If everything goes according to my plan, I will be a local 695 member by August. I understand that I'm a newbie, I've only been doing production sound for 2 years now. My ImdB list is very short, and I've only worked on small budget films. I love what I do and know that this is also a great way to support my family. I'm a hard worker, have a great sense of humor, and always willing to learn more about my craft. Feel free to comment or give advice. Have A Great Day! Jason Kubota Utility Sound Technician jaysmicsoundsnice@gmail.com
  9. Hello everyone! Its your utility sound technician in training again. I'm done with all my classes and I'm ready to work as a production sound intern. Im currently in Los Angeles and would love the opportunity to meet and work with any production sound mixers in the area. If you need an extra pair of hands on set or someone to day play for any reason, I am available. I have worked on approximately 30 short films and specs for commercials and reality this past year. One of which will be in The Pan African Film Festival in Feb. I love Production Sound and have had great industry professionals as instructors. If you're looking for a prompt, fun, attentive, and capable assistant, then I'm the technician for you. I'm always willing to learn new techniques as well. I can manage time cards, patch cables, solder, plant mics, mic talent, build and break down sound set ups, check equipment for damages, keep your truck organized throughout the day, communicate well with others, and anything else you might need of me on set. I'm a fast learner, so if there's something I don't know, I can pick it up pretty quickly. Inbox me for details. Any positive and constructive feedback is welcomed. Thank You, Jason Kubota
  10. Wow! Talk about breaking into the business. What you went thru on your first feature is impressive Mike. Lately I have been only doing shorts films. I am training to be a third. However, these small budget shorts that I've been working on are the boom and recorder type. I've studied each one of the directors' films that I've worked with. For the most part, the sound quality isnt that great. How can I insure quality sound when I work with these directors? I just want to do well. If I'm able to record good sound, they'll use me for a feature that they have coming up. I have a great reputation amongst my peers and local film community as well as my industry professors. All I need is a mentor who I can assist and even meet up with off the set to help and learn from. I know I can be of great assistance. There seems to be a large need for 3rds in production sound. I know whats expected. I just need practice and relevant experience. I need to know things like how to make and reapair equipment (cables, connectors, etc.). I ran, terminated category and coax cable, and helped build server racks for years. Im very able to be a UST and I love doing it. I just wanna learn on a bigger level. Thanks again for your great advice and I hope to be accepted as a friend in sound amongst all of you.
