  1. Hi Ted, The LMb is essentially a 3-block LMa with other features seen in the L-Series. It has a max Tx output of 50 mW. It's powered by two AA batteries. You can find more info about the L-Series in my in-depth testing & review here.
  2. On bigger productions, I've been coupling three to four MCR42 receivers together with a PSC RF Multi SMA, routed to two PSC sharkfins. This setup has worked fine until last week, when my RF performance decreased all of a sudden. Scans are now much dirtier, and less open frequency choice, compared to using the standard ENG whips. It seems like something is introducing noise, but this worked fine for months. I've swapped SMA cabling, BNC cables, fins. No extra BNC right-angle adapters or splitters. I'm also giving the RFM its own NP powering to isolate from main BDS. Since I don't have another RF Multi lying around, that's the only thing I haven't swapped out. Does anybody else use this configuration? Any suggestions? Thanks, Matt
  3. When it comes to UPS international shipments, they base their fees upon the declared value of the item, shipment type, and the final destination. The sender has the option to pay these fees upfront, otherwise, the receiver is sent an invoice. The latter happens more often, and the invoice often arrives conveniently 1-2 weeks after the 15-day pay period before a 6% late fee, which you have to call in to waive. Anyway, contact Tentacle Sync, and see if you can work something out.
  4. I wonder if Comtek explored making a M-216 with higher than 10 mW output, or if it has something to do with its 216 MHz band usage a "grey area".
  5. Thanks everyone - more like it coming soon!
  6. Evan, I've used your similar setup, with either the Audioroot or standard PSC distro, but haven't noticed unusual temperatures.
  7. Hi Manodona, Welcome to JWSOUND. It's great that you're applying to expand your skills overseas. Both NYC and Los Angeles are the main hubs to do so. If you choose NYC, there are many fine sound mixers there to connect with. I wouldn't advertise yourself to work "for free", unless there are specific rules to the government sponsorship. Even then, living in the city can be expensive. What are the requirements of your program? If you ever visit LA, please contact me anytime. I'm half-Japanese, and can introduce you to a community working here under similar programs. Cheers, Matt
  8. After spending months testing the heck out of Lectro's new L-Series wireless, I can say this is solid combo, and a sign of where Lectrosonics is heading for their future ENG products. Please check out my full in-depth review in the link below. http://www.bamfsound.com/lectrosonics-l-series-review/ Thanks!
  9. I always slate out loud, because even if something is incorrect, it opens communication between departments to make sure everyone is on the same page. Also, slating lets your boom operator know that you're rolling, and he/she can call it out when ready.
  10. Yes, at NAB it was barely a prototype - an empty shell with a display/animated UI ("running numbers"), and connectors only. I expect it will use the same pre's as the H series. Based on conversations with Zoom/Samson at the show, and their reliance on price point,"timecode" may be an external jam for input, and the output as a passthrough.
  11. +1 on the 4018 capsule. It's more forgiving for indoor dialogue
  12. My LR/LT combo has been fantastic for my mini ENG rig, or as a solid hop to other cameras. The pair sounds great, is easy to tune, impressive range, and having Blocks 470-20 gives me enough flexibility in LA. From quick power-on to IR Tx sync, the duo is ready to go in a few minutes. [Above: Performed well on the CES Show floor in LVCC, an RF mayhem] Battery performance in general is on par or a little less than a SM combo. I can run almost a full day with AA Lithiums, or swap Eneloop 2000mAh before lunch (at 50 mW). The LT does get pretty warm during 100 mW operation, and may cause discomfort in some conditions. Let me know if you have any more questions.
  13. 50mW is output power of transmission, unrelated to microphone gain.
  14. The Neumann 81D's are fun. Natural response, very directional, integrated compressor/limiter that "prevents clipping", and it works in a variety of environments. And it has a blue light!
  15. I used their first version of the Super Softie, and was not impressed. Hopefully these smaller versions will implement whatever changes were in their 2015 revision.
  16. I'd rather have beefier processing power, even if it means a slight whirr during heavy moments.
  17. Your best bet is one of these guys: http://www.trewaudio.com/store/PSC-48V-Phantom-to-12V-T-Power-Barrel-Adapter.html
  18. Now that we have the hardware headers for 2 simultaneous attachments, I patiently await a CL-12...
  19. I wonder if they're still offering the 1N upgrade. While I haven't experienced power issues, I wouldn't mind having both TC in & out via the BNC.
