Is there a set screw for the XLR connector? If so, can you tighten it?

Hi,
I have friends with old ADATs that need fixin'. The ADATs, not the friends. Got any reliable sources? I saw these guys in LA, but am clueless.

Consumer-ish 2.4GHz solutions like the DJI Mic and the Rode Wireless GO II offer a clever feature: built-in recording. So even if there is wireless interference you still have a clean recording saved to the transmitter as a backup. You'll just have to transfer the files and do some additional editing afterwards.

How did they dodge the Zaxcom patent?

I was up on Sounderday this morning and one of the many cans we were kicking was movies with soft dialog and how difficult it was to capture. Tonight I watched the 2019 film "Poison Rose" with John Travolta and Morgan Freeman. Will Loftin was the mixer. Scott Johnson was the boom op. Are they around to ask question of concerning the soft dialog?

I like mine! It's not pointed directly at the soundhole. Just sort of looks like it. I also had a Schoeps CMC641 on an overhead boom out of the shot.

I don't buy the thought of low speaking talent, per se. That's what faders are for. However the frequency response difference between someone talking very low and that same person projecting can be markedly different.
This conversation happens in circles with live bands and also mixing music for whatever these days has replaced CDs and vinyl. I rarely go out for music anymore, but when I did, it wasn't unusual for the vocals to be buried. Part of that is style (which I don't care for) and part of it is that if/when the band turns up, at some point you can't push the vocal any higher without causing feedback in the PA.
In the case of mixing for release, I think the problem is usually a vocalist who is shy about his/her vocal ability (and they may be correct.) The other problem us that everyone in the band KNOWS THE WORDS. As a mixer, I don't, so if a vocal phrase gets lost, I want to do something to make it audible. -
I don't know exactly how this may help us, but here's the link.

If you have any horrible audio, I'll try to make it less horrible. Send me a link or a short .wav file.

MixPre D? I like mine and use it also for USB interface to computer.

Cool! So old, it's new again?

We used to think that rechargeables had a somewhat floaty supply level and that caused problems with some circuitry, especially as the batteries age. I had a similar problem using rechargeable 9 VDC batteries in a home security system years ago. The transmitter would fail irregularly and trip the system.

Is it April first?

I own the CMC141 and owned the 8050. The 8050 sounds great BUT it is a PITA on a boom IMO. Super low frequency response and awful wind noise on swings. For interviews this might not be a big deal though. The CMC141 is beautiful. I prefer it to the senn but only your ears will tell you what to get.
My exact same experience. The 8050 seemed to have a smiley face EQ, so I also didn't like the top end.

Are you talking about an MKH 50 or an MKH 8050?

not with a BBG, but great mc!

On the advice of a friend, I began watching "Money Heist." As he mentioned the ADR is pretty amazing. If you're not looking for it, you can go a ways without noticing. Was there a special approach to achieving this effect?
