  1. Also, if you heat the velcro adhesive with a lighter briefly and evenly prior to application, it works MUCH better.
  2. More like boat anchor for the new sailboat!
  3. +1 for meters. I like having them on the app
  4. If only Sound Devices would build a control surface for it...
  5. Right, batteries are dangerous. But the 20 gallons of gas that we used yesterday on set to create a giant fireball, totally safe.
  6. I own a 10x10 Pelsue and it is awesome. Extremely well made and it's only starting to show its age after 2 years of regular service on set. Get the zippered door. The -D models have clasps instead of zippers for joining multiple tents together. Also, I think the 8x8 will be my next size. The 10x10 is nice and spacious but it's BIG. Yes, they're expensive but you do get what you pay for. During the summer months in Atlanta I have a portable A/C unit which exhausts through the built-in hose port.
  7. I believe Michael Hoffman had some custom made, but he only rents them out.
  8. Try and find a dry cleaning plastic bag. They seem to be the most transparent acoustically.
  9. Why would anyone buy a 2 track recorder?
  10. You are obligated to collect and file sales tax returns on equipment rental.
  11. Did that change go through in the 479 constitution?
  12. Nice article on Jim Webb. My first set visit was seeing my Dad do music playback on For the Boys back around 1991, which Jim mixed for Mark Rydell. My Dad has a great set photo of himself and Geoff Patterson with crew cuts so they could work on set and be filmed.
  13. Anyone recognize this? The very non-technical description and wrong model drew my attention. Serial number 1268.
  14. Jan, if you're using Zeus fasteners you need an official snoopy tool.
  15. Here's a link to the rubbermaid version: http://www.ebay.com/itm/VINTAGE-TUPPER-SILENT-PARTNER-RUBBER-POKER-CHIPS-WITH-ORIGINAL-HOLDERS-/151240636949?
  16. The FM Phonak's work great, and sounds like you're having battery issues. If they're outputting white noise in my experience it has always been fixed with a new battery. The batteries are very susceptible to oxidation and age. I've been buying mine from Costco, in the hearing aid department near the pharmacy. Size 10 you get 40 for $10 and they seem to be "fresh". Bud.
  17. If you watch the behind the scenes to Social Network he gives a shout-out to my brother, David.
  18. I inferred "eliminate cumbersome trims" to mean there wouldn't be any. One of the descriptions for the cantar was as follows: from http://test.aaton.com/products/sound/cantar/ Unsurpassed mic preamps The fame of the Cantar Sound is based on Aatons expertise with audio signal processing. First, the five mic inputs are equipped with the highest quality impedance transformers. Second, Aaton developed huge dynamic range three stage proprietary preamplifiers to eliminate cumbersome trims. Third, the powerful and smooth analog limiters achieve an impossible task: they are almost transparent to background sounds.
  19. Astro Van: Winner of worst crash test rating ever!
  20. I find it interesting that the preamps have no trim control. Is that also true with the X1/X2?
