  1. i have both sound experience and have worked on hundreds of interviews including some i have conducted myself in the role of producer for others I've inclosed my resume with contact info. thanks eric goldstein 503-336-4803 971-275-3716 EricG_resume 2014 copy 6 2 copy 2.pdf
  2. theyre not going to pay me for 60 days even though on set the director ( who is also producer) said" oh yeah we'll pay you in like two weeks. but thank for all the info. i'll remember to get my deal in very great and written detail next time. eric
  3. But i was promised by the producer on the phone that it was highly unlikely we would go over 12. that assurance and a subway token should get me a ride on a train in NY. live and learn. from now on im going to get ever single detailed spelled out in my deal memo. this was an abusive production company from day one. AND a not so great rate too. its funny that everytime i get my full rate we are treated well, but everytime i accept a lower deal, the crew gets abused. its almost always true.. thank you all for the feedback. EXCEPT YOU WHITNEY!!!
  4. yes whitney. we all love that. but that doesnt really answer the question
  5. this is just a 9 day reality show. no rules enforced im sure. i just thought you had to give the crew a decent turnaround. naivete on my part. and im just the mixer. im sure the PA's had to work longer than i did and had and earlier call then 6:45 am.
  6. i was just on a show. we had a 13 hour shoot day and then a two hour drive to the next location ( the hotel so a 15+ our day). the next day we had a 6:45 am call. approx an 8 hour turnaround. this is a non union show and we were told ( verbally, not in writing) we wouldnt go over 12, but there was nothing in the deal memo about turnarounds., but i was wondering if this was a violation of the labor laws. do we have the right if forced, to submit for a time and a half day for the next day... legally? or is what they did even legal by basic labor standards. i did look up labor laws but it didnt really answer this question. thanks
  7. the wisdom of solomon!....solomon burke!
  8. glad i found this discussion. i was on a job last week. i have the 552 the 744 and 4 wireless all on the bds and anIDX lithium NP1. i didnt need the radios so i turned them off. upon trying to power up my bag it didnt work. i switched NP-1'S AND EVENTUALLY IT WORKED when i went to internal power on the 552 and then swtiched it to external. this might have been the reason. too much power from my IDX lithium ion fully charged battery. i thought maybe something was wrong with the contacts in the cup which i now wrap 2 bongo ties around to make sure it doesnt get lose.
  9. STAY ON THE CUTTING EDGE OF TECHNOLOGY. NOT THE BLEEDING EDGE. somehow we were all able to make movies with a 2 trk nagra , 4 vegas and a black comtek antenna sticking off the top of our carts. i know the demands from post have changed but we still need to keep things in perspective. to buy every new gadget that comes out will leave you with about 4 generations of a sound cart and a never ending balance on your VISA card. i'm making do with a sound devices 8 trk recorder; a cooper 106+1 ; 6 SM''s ( the 1st generation); 8 of the older comteks; 2 neumans 81i, and one neumann shotgun and 2 VDB poles. somehow... its working.
  10. what an illustrious career. he is one of the first big name booms i heard of when i entered the business. R.I.P. Mr. Lewis
  11. my buddy has had to send in his PSC RF unit 4 times. yes PSC was great about swapping it out but to have it go down 4 times on 4 different shoots makes me wonder if these were field tested with a full bag of gear ( i.e. a 788 w/ CL- Maybe im just noticing it more, but i keep reading stories about the multi having in the field problems. hope for all our sakes the problem gets resolved. its a great idea, but so far mostly in theory.
