  1. Hi Petersont, The opening on the current Soundbag Dashboard will fit the Audio Root VM-Dbox-HRS, the VM-Dbox and the esmart BG-DH mkII. All three of those power distro units use the same extruded aluminium box so they are the same size. I have a bracket coming out that will hold those units in the dashboard opening similar to how the bracket holds a RM unit. The esmart BG-DU-Reg and the esmart BG-DU are slightly wider and will not fit in this dashboard. These two units are roughly the same size as the 411 receivers (the top dimensions, not the depth). I have a design coming out for a dashboard that uses these power distro units with 411 receivers. Stay tuned for that.
  2. as promised. A couple of pictures of the new blue dashboards. Here is the 633 Dashboard in a Orca OR-30 bag. The blue looks really nice in the bag. Another shot of the dashboard. You'll notice this one has the Audio Root power distro unit. This was a prototype, but it works nicely and we will be introducing a bracket to hold the Audio Root power distro in our next batch of Dashboards. The 664 Dashboard in blue. Here is the 664 Dashboard inside the K-Tek Stingray KSRA2 bag. The blue on blue looks really nice.
  3. Love the app. Was wondering if its possible to add custom names to the channels ? instead of just channel 1 channel 2 etc, could replace with character names etc. Thanks.
  4. Just a little update. New designs are on the way. We've had a few setbacks, but it looks like things are finally moving forward with the new Dashboards. In the meantime I've done a test batch of current model Dashboards in a blue Anodized finish. They look great, especially if you are using a K-Tek or Orca bag. Matches with the interior really nicely. I will try and post some pictures soon. I will update the website with available quantities, but this was just a "test" batch to see what the colour looked like so I don't have a lot of them. But I'm so happy with the result that moving forward all Dashboards will be available with a blue anodized finish or the original black. Also, due to popular demand, I am now shipping all Dashboards with the retainning screws included to hold down the Lectro SR receivers. The Wisycoms come from the manufacturer with the screws, but the Lectros do not. If you have already bought a Dashboard from me and would like to purchase some of the screws, PM me here, or send me an email info@soundbagdashboards.com I will try and make sure to update here with further news for Soundbag Dashboards, but you can also follow us on Facebook at the Soundbag Dashboard page: https://www.facebook.com/soundbagdashboards It's been a slow process recently to get the newest Dashboards out. Remind me never to complain about a manufacturer not sticking to there original timeline when releasing a product !lol. But hopefully it will be worth the wait !
  5. You worked on "Where the Trail Ends" ? Very jealous !!! Great MTB film.
  6. a good technique is also to get some of those stereo rycote clips and put two of your favourite mics in them parallel on the end of your boompole. Run a 5 pin XLR with the two mic signals down to 2 channels on your mixing console. Set the levels on the first mic for whisper, the levels for the second mic at screaming level. Record the two tracks seperalty for security in post, but now you can mix between the two mics for your "mix"
  7. From reading a few other threads it would seem there are quite a few soundies who like bicycles, so i thought it might be fun for people to post up pics of their rides. I'll go first. I'm a big fan of mountain biking. Probably what I like to do most when not working. I've had many different bikes over the years, but right now I've got two main bikes that I ride: It's winter in Canada and that means snow ! nothing beats the traction of a fatbike. Thats my Norco Bigfoot 6.2. First winter with it and it's a blast ! Tires are 4.5 inches wide ensuring good traction on the white stuff. Thats my pride and joy, Santa Cruz Blur LTC. I bought the frame and built it up myself. Highlights include the Fox 32 Talas front fork, Easton Haven wheelset with Schwalbe Nobby Nic tires, Truvativ Noir carbon fibre cranks (with Race Face bash guard for good measure)and handlebar, SRAM X0 rear derailleur and brakes, Chris King headset, bottom bracket and Thompson stem. It's a sweet ride. Post up your bikes !!
  8. looks like theres lots of soundie/bikers ! awesome. That probable deserves a thread of its own. Post your ride ! (or rides as the case might be)
  9. lots of great entries. I'll add another. IMHO, one of the best theme songs of any animated TV show. The great drumming, the energizing horn section a little surf style guitar and a flute solo ! Makes me want to find whoever this band is and go catch a live performance.
  10. Actually Karl, we eliminated the penny up here Is worth $0.00 Karl Wasserman, on 23 Jan 2015 - 01:31 AM, said: And since it's a post 1997 penny, it doesn't even have any value in copper.
  11. I love my Fatbike. It has totally extended the riding season for me up here in the Republic of Canadia Here is a pic from my ride the other day. And I love the idea of a Mtn bike ride during NAB. good excuse to go to NAB. lol.
  12. From a few weeks ago. I call this "Cart Art" On location at the National Gallery of Canada.
  13. Hi Matt, I'm currently sold out of the 633B. It's been my most popular model. We have more on the way, but i've been delayed due to a redesign of all the current dashboards to be able to hold both the SR and Wisycom receivers.
  14. looks like a nice camera, but I was little disappointed to see no AES inputs like on the F-55. I'm a big fan of the AES input as it totally bypasses any gain structure settings on the camera.
  15. Hi Phil, Having 5 slots for 411's and a sixth space for the BG-DU seems to be the most logical combination. 1: it makes sense (6 channel mixer would have 5 RX's and 1 boom most of the time) 2: it lays out nicely having 3 - 411's lined up at the top. Another 2 - 411's and the BG-DU on the second row (closer to the mixer) I will probably also have a model that just houses 6 - 411 receivers, without a power distro option. (but don't hold me to it ! LOL. Nothing is set in stone yet)
  16. Hi Jeremy, Yes I have a design made for 411's to be mounted to the 664. Just waiting for the "one off" to be made so I can do a thorough test fit. Shouldn't be too much longer. Also, I am incorporating some new DC distribution options. Originally the Soundbag Dashboard only housed the Remote Audio Rm. But the next release of models will feature compatibility with the Battery Bud and with the Audio Root products. The popular 633B model is currently sold out, but I should be getting more soon. That, and a few other designs are on the way. Hopefully they should all be ready before Christmas. I'll be sure to update here when the new units are ready. Just want to add a big thank you to all those who have ordered Soundbag Dashboards and those who have contacted me with some great ideas for improving the product. Being a full-time sound guy, being on the road, makes it hard to devote as much time to this project as I would like. But I appreciate your patience if I don't get back to people in a timely manner or ship out orders as fast as I would like.
  17. Thank you Dominique. I've had a few requests for cable sets to go with the Dashboards. Unfortunately I'm not a very good solderer, so it's not really in my plans to try and do that. Besides, there are already so many combinations possible with just the dashboard designs, adding the different possible cable combos would put it over the top ! I'll leave cable making to the pros ! Vasileios, I haven't tried to make an Audio Ltd version. I don't know anyone who uses them and I haven't had any requests for it. However, I've had lots of requests for Wisycom compatible versions so I'm working on a Wisy version right away. Should be out in a few weeks.
  18. Thanks for your order Matt. It was sent out yesterday.
  19. Our shoot day was interrupted by the incident. Actors were stuck in there locked down Hotel for several hours, so we couldn't get them to set. That's a first.
  20. @phillip Perkins Thanks. The 4 models that are out now are not designed to fit a 411. We're working on a few ideas for a 411 model, stay tuned for updates as we progress. The slot mount receivers are obviously made to be mounted this way so they are the first versions I'm releasing. hopefully if there is enough interest and sales I can continue releasing newer versions.
  21. Current models are designed for the Lectro SRB's. I'm working on a version for the Wisycom and LTD's. (they may fit, but I have not tried them and do not guarantee the current models will work with Wisy or Audio LTD.)
  22. Thanks Greg. Working on it. The 411 and Zax receivers have there own particular set of challenges to make them work in this kind of setup, but I think we may have a solution. Stay tuned.
  23. well I never thought I would be posting in this section of JWSound, but i had an idea almost 2 years ago and here is the result of months of tinkering, prototyping and field testing. May I present the Soundbag Dashboard Some of you may remember the pictures I posted in the "show me your bag" thread, of the one-off wireless bracket I designed for my own personal use. After posting it up I received quite a few emails asking if i had any others for sale or if I could make any others for people. Since the first one I made was done by hand and took quite a while to make, I decided to look in to improving the design and seeing if manufacturing might be feasible. And voila, the sound bag dashboard is born. Right now I have four models to choose from. 2 for the 633 and 2 for the 664. But I've already designed models for other mixers including the 788, Maxx and Nomad. They will be released over the next few weeks. I'm also looking into making a version to fit the Wisycom wireless receivers, and a few other models using some of the most popular portable audio equipment out on the market right now. I'll be sure to post updates here as the models come out. If you have any ideas or suggestions, please feel free to post here. Thanks. pictured here is the 633B dashboard in an Orca bag pictured here is the 664 dashboard in a petrol 617 bag pictured here is the 633 dashboard Since these are made for specific pieces of gear to work with each other and since everyone has there own idea of what makes the perfect sound bag, the Soundbag Dashboards will have low production runs of as many different models as we can think up. We won't be making tons of just 1 or 2 models, forcing you to choose audio gear you don't really want to use. We hope to provide lots of varying versions and I hope we can come up with the right combination that creates your ultimate sound bag. All proudly made in Canada. http://soundguy-audio-solutions.myshopify.com
  24. It depends, stuff happens. I prefer to come up with solutions to the potential audio problem first, and then allow the director the complete freedom to choose how they want to shoot the scene. After all, it's not my scene, it's theres.
