    Let's explore the possibilities.
  1. Hi All To answer the original question, here is a quote from an email I just received from him: "The server with my old e-mail addresses (and web site) was taken off line in early January. It was closed down because my brother could no longer afford to keep it running (or rather it didn't make sense anymore). I had nothing to do with the decision as such." FWIW, he currently lives in California. Also, it would appear you found the file you were looking for on my site. Have a GREAT DAY!!! Ray
  2. Billy Not having seen the new feature, I'm going to make the assumption that it uses the existing frequency scan function as a subroutine and it can only scan for the one alternate frequency in that QRX100. Then the command to change the transmitter frequency is sent using the existing frequency change command in the local QIFB board. Based on that, I don't see a way for an IFB100 to be able to receive multiple requests for a frequency change from X number of units. The solution would be to have an antenna combiner for all of the QIFB antenna connectors and send the output to the IFB amplifier and then to the IFB antenna. Have a GREAT DAY!!! Ray
  3. Oleg, FWIW, the website has: "Digital Inputs 8 (3 AES pair with SRC, 1 AES-42 pair with SRC". 3 standard AES pairs (6 channels) and 1 AES-42 pair (2 channels). "Digital Outputs 4 AES pairs (8 channels)" How can they all fit on one connector? Well here is how it is done with the Deva/Fusion. Pin DESC Pin DESC 1 Ch3/4, Pin2 9 Ch7/8, Pin1 2 Ch1/2, Pin2 10 Ch5/6, Pin1 3 NC 11 Ch3/4, Pin3 4 Ch7/8, Pin2 12 Ch1/2, Pin3 5 Ch5/6, Pin2 13 NC 6 Ch3/4, Pin1 14 Ch7/8, Pin3 7 Ch1/2, Pin1 15 Ch5/6, Pin3 8 NC I do not know for a fact that this is how it will be done, but Zaxcom is usually consistant when it comes to pin-assignment in connectors. 4. Jan I'm not familiar with that van. I assume it has a side door on the passenger side. If it does, consider the following: park the cart toward the back, on the driver's side and load your boxes and other gear in the space behind the side door. This will give you the ability to unload the cart without having to remove/adjust the equipment boxes. I would have suggested parking it on the passenger side but don' know if there is enough room to secure the cart. Have a GREAT DAY!!! Ray

    Canadian 700mhz!

Hi Guys (and Gals) I'm in the process of creating a reference for each country to spell out frequency limits and licensing requirements (or not) for wireless gear. Could you let me know whether or not the following info is correct for Canada? Before transition: 450.0 – 451.9 MHz Auxillary-to-broadcast only 455.0 – 456.9 MHz Auxillary-to-broadcast only 470.0 – 608.0 MHz License required – 250mW max – 200 kHz bandwidth max 614.0 – 806.0 MHz License required – 250mW max – 200 kHz bandwidth max After transition: 450.0 – 451.9 MHz Auxillary-to-broadcast only 455.0 – 456.9 MHz Auxillary-to-broadcast only 470.0 – 608.0 MHz License required – 250mW max – 200 kHz bandwidth max 614.0 – 698.0 MHz License required – 250mW max – 200 kHz bandwidth max The transition date is 2011/03/31. The miscellaneous licensing info is: Currently it is NOT possible to obtain a license for wireless gear in the range 698.0 - 806.0 MHz. Only existing licensed gear can operate in that range, until the transition date. Also, I don't know if there are any frequencies available for unlicensed use. If so, what are the requirements for power, etc? TIA Ray
  6. Hi ALL Just started reading this thread. The New Mexico Film Office had a study performed by Ernst & Young back in 2009. It's currently on the welcome page of our website at: http://www.iatselocal480.com/. Have a GREAT DAY!!! Ray
  7. If I remember correctly, an antenna can cover the entire next BLOCK on boths sides of the block it's tuned for. Ray
  8. In reference to the Ramsey antenna, would there be any problem with using paint to change the green color? If not, what kind of paint is recommended? Ray
  9. What would using a 75-ohm bulkhead connector do? Ray
  10. John Will someone being taping the seminars for the out-of-towners? Ray
  11. Oleg If I remember correctly, from another thread, there is a problem using a Lithium battery with a PSC UPS. The battery has a higher voltage than the charging circuit. The battery is used until the charging circuit is at a higher voltage and THEN the power is coming from the UPS and not the battery, resulting in a partically or mostly discharged battery. So instead of being able to run for XX hours on battery, there may only be an hour or two remaining. I emailed PSC more than a year ago, inquiring about a new version of the UPS units that was built to work with some version of Lithium chemistry. The response at that time was they were looking to see what chemistries would be available in a couple of years and expected the price for the new chemistries to drop significantly. Ray
  12. Hi ALL Sorry to get into this thread late. There is a website that is already doing what you are considering: http://hollywoodcrewblacklist.blogspot.com/. They publish a blog online, no membership or login required. The top of the first page is as follows: Have you crewed on a project whose producers have promised that "the check is in the mail", or now actively avoid your phone calls? This is a list of clients who promise pay, but fail to cut a check at the end of a shoot or mail out payment. Please use caution in submitting to this list, and include a description to justify a submission. Write to: hollywoodcrewblacklist@gmail.com See also: http://bigbookofbastards.com/ http://disgruntledcrew.blogspot.com/ Be aware that the two websites they point to are NO LONGER available. Food for thought. Ray
