  1. I used the phone app the other day. once I had my box attached, the 1st AC bought up the settings on his phone and we dialled it in leaving the DP free to continue lining up the shot. It was very cool and worked well. The range wasn't very good, we had to be next to camera, but that's no issue. All the settings were there, layed out like on the camera menu.
  2. I'm also very curious about what symptoms you experienced with regards the 2.4/5.8 edition interference. I have had intermittent issur I have never been able to track down. cheers, nick
  3. I recently rang one of our local audio post houses to ask them about what they like for stereo tracks when mixing for picture. It's a very rough quote but it was something along the lines of "I hate M/S with a passion" It came down to phase issues, and in this day and age there is no need for mono compatibility. Within that post facility they have an ambisonic mic which was his preferred format, but he also suggested a simple xy would be preferable over ms. ,,I still have to take him up on his offer of going n and listening to the soundfield mic they have.
  4. I split the powering into 2 batteries. One for the 788t and the other for radios. I usually get through to lunch or maybe just before.
  5. The local kids watching us at our office. manilla in the Philippines
  6. Mine was a USB3 reader and mac.
  7. Not sure what was happening, but i could reproduce it and was without a doubt the card reader. It was bad from the first time I used, so I had to transfer the files straight from the harddrive of the 788. Then went home and tested, and every time I mounted a card onto this reader, it then corrupted the card.
  8. I've had cards corrupted by the card reader. Maybe worth checking that out as a possible culprit.
  9. Try to think like an editor and give them tracks they will be able to cut together for smooth consistent sound. Dont be afraid of perspective (depending :), especially on one camera shoots.
  10. It's great to see these booming vids. There are not many of these videos around. When I was booming I always really enjoyed stedicam shots. And as an aside, long shots are always easier when you are moving around. One of my favourite memories of booming was a job early on when I had taken on the position of boom operator for the mixer who trained me up as their sound assist/2nd. And we had one of those dinner table scenes, the camera was on a semi circular track jammed in a corner, so lots of tight squeezes. and everyone around the fairly large table in a robust conversation. One schoeps over the top, no radios. When the shot was complete I looked over to the mixer and he's jumping out of his seat (not always a good sign) but with a big smile on his face and telling the director how good it sounded. It was great to have that sense of accomplishment when I was young and keen to do well for someone I respected.
  11. I sent a scratch track to one the other day. As usual a rushed setup, all was familiar from working with Amira's. But for the life of me I couldnt find a headphone out. Not sure if they have one. But if you have worked with an Amira, you should be fine. The camera came with an output cable that went from the lemo to 5 pin as on Alexa. Probably worth checking what the cable will be.
  12. Does anyone have a photo comparison including the tiny lockit? I saw a photo comparison in the other thread, but would love to see the tiny lockit in there as well.
  13. The recorder as an expendable....., it is great all the new tools we have available...
  14. Every time i buy a new piece of tech that has just been released. I always end up saying to myself, never again. Let someone else do the beta testing.
  15. Good Idea, How does tape stick to the silicone? Hang on, I just reread your post, the mold is silicone, what did you use for the concealer?
  16. If you set up the mixer correctly, I don't understand his reasoning. Headphone amps on cameras generally sound terrible. So I usually listen straight off the mixer with occasional checks to the return, easy to switch if it's through the snake, not easy if it is on its own cable from the camera.
  17. I think your battery indicator was on the wrong setting. You can change the battery chemistry to match your batteries. I easily go a day on rechargeables. You can also put the light brightness onto manual setting, and adjust it with the jog wheel.
  18. Mine holds code for much longer than 25 seconds, no problems changing a battery, probably even have a cup of tea as well and code would still be held. Ive found in some low low light sets, the display is too bright on lowest setting and i have put a strip of ND over readout. Also when backlit, the perspex is too transparent and therefore needs a backing. And on my too do list is to design a foot for it, so AC's can put it down without laying it down awkwardly Now I'm feeling picky, but while I'm at it, the bloop light doesnt dim when the readout is dimmed, so its always blindingly bright. Im sure a firmware upgrade could fix that if It ever gets mentioned to the right person.
  19. Curious if the sennheiser 8050 that was listened to had the filter module? And was the MKH50 filter engaged?
  20. Is the pilot tone switched off? Try pushing that button.
  21. Some possible fixes that sometimes work, sometimes not Pour some of water over the creaky spots. Pile of shot bags to weigh it down and stop the movement. Get the grips to lay a dance floor if out of shot. Sometimes you just have to curse...
  22. When I was booming, one of the most useful skills I taught myself was to be able to boom left and right handed. I'd switch to whichever way suited the shot best. Usually so I could face the camera, sometimes so I could bend around a corner for a bit more reach. Once you are used to this, you forget which is your natural side.
  23. Have you tried playing the files back on a different program to wave agent?
