  1. An Open Gate ARRIRAW frame is 3414x2198 pixels, so more like 3.5K I was just on a shoot with the Alexa, we were shooting 2K, wide/tight interviews in an awful room. Shot a wide plate and then lowered mic in to be good for sound and tight frame. Post will use the wide plates to fix boom, no issue at all.
  2. Looks difficult to mix on
  3. Not to be that guy, but Matt Mayer says no...
  4. Simon, are you in single or dual mode with the receivers?
  5. If Keanu Reeves shows up would the movie be called "Sound Speed?" Just keep that thing moving faster than 15ips and you'll all be ok.
  6. I got a cheapish crimper at the hardware store for $50, haven't worked with that specific connector but have successfully crimped many bnc ends. There's also careful use of pliers.
  7. Haven't got it yet, but I'll be soon getting a "Halfbelt Rugged" from Fabric Horse I'm just coming off a gig where I'm set up at a cart but have had 60 people to Lav over 4 days, It would've been nice to have a more organized collection of "tools"
  8. I just send my landlord a link to my imdb every month... Could explain the eviction notice, but probably unrelated.
  9. BeardsandHats.com redirects to B&H
  10. Another zaxcom suggestion: IFB250 There seems to be two means of communication for zaxcom products, zaxnet via time code connection and serial commands that can be interpreted as zaxnet. We have the ifb100/200 which can send zaxnet from the deva/fusion/nomad/maxx by timecode but then can't communicate with the rx12 or qrx. Then we have the qifb option that can transmit serial communications. IFB250 same as the 200 but with serial communication
  11. Though I love the idea of Dante, and it is exciting to see a lot of manufactures starting to rally around a unified format, Glenn's comments in a post from 2013 points towards him (and therefor Zaxcom) dismissing Dante because it could add future technical issues dealing with network protocols Hopefully I'll be happily surprised and he has had a change of heart in the past year and a half
  12. General price for the "official part" is in the $2.50-$3.50 range. Full compass is one of the first google results for that part, so my first impression of sticker shock made me quickly look for alternatives.
  13. I was missing a few "connector ring nuts" from my g2 and G3 sets, wanted to get replacements as I was self refurbing the units I have. Found the official part #600357 at full compass for $3.50 each http://www.fullcompass.com/product/438166.html Searched for a cheaper supplier and came across "Round knurled nut for M6 sized hardware and audio jacks/adapters" on JAMECO $0.19 each, 10+ qty. part number 2183226 http://www.jameco.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/Product_10001_10001_2183226_-1 Ordered a bunch, figured it'd be a cheap mistake if it didn't work out. Took about a week to get to me, but I'm happy to report they fit perfectly.
  14. Engin is a great guy, had the pleasure of booming for him on a 12 day shoot last month. If I wasn't booked over the weekend I would have been willing to help out Believe me guys, I know that we have to work to maintain a proper rate structure, but as Senator mentioned, there is more to it than money. I'm sure if Engin found a young op willing to learn he would have taught him a lot, and there for worth the experience.
  15. A steal cage is the decoy filled with Jack's zoom and Azden gear, his steel cage is in a much safer place with his real gear
  16. Straight cable or did you find coiled coax?
  17. Or maybe another option for the yet-to-be-announced "other recorders" supported by the ambient beetle?
  18. Jack, how does the phone communicate with the qrx235/ifb200? In the video it is totally wireless, was that just because it was being demoed?
  19. http://vimeopro.com/ipstv/ips-tv-at-ibc-2014/video/106109151 IBC episode 11 - ISP TV
  20. What are the demensions on the 41?
  21. To follow up with what Greg says, if you used any sound effects from libraries you likely only have the permission to sync them to picture and provide them in a mixed context. If you turn over an OMF you are turning over the original recordings, which is in breach of the contract you entered into when you licensed the libraries for your use in the first place.
  22. Just barely over 11" so like Length: 11.2" Height: 8" Width: 6.5" but if you could add 2 bags I'd say make them comparable to the 32/34s with 2 widths to accommodate mixers who like the extra faders CL-8/FP-8 or not
  23. Make a bag for the family of recorders in between the Maxx/633 and The enormous 644 If you design one just over 11" wide it'll be a great fit for the 552/788/Nomad sized recorders without needing to force it into the OR30 or let it swim in the OR32/34s That's the size that I feel is most neglected by bag makers, I know Ktek is finally coming out with a good medium sized bag too.
  24. The Sennheiser g2/g3 units use two AAs facing the same direction. I am unfamiliar with the Sony units, but as Sennheiser bucks convention, I doubt it is the same. There are options like this: http://www.qcavionix.com/be-2aa.php?cat=20502 But I wouldn't be quick to trust something like that without sufficient testing
