I spent a week shooting in HK 10 years ago

I guess a lot of HDTV stations have eaten up the 500/800 areas by now

Best ask our HK member what frequencies he is using to avoid TV or from where you can rent

as far as i can tell , anything above 700 mhz may be problem , i am using 500-650 mhz for 5 m 6 yrs here without any significant interference problem .But Hong Kong is a crowd RF area ( as i mentioned no one care the regulation on RF FREQ (many illegal operation of RF ), which u really need to have good gear esp RF filter for this

Well he says it's not close (ie high SPL) so in this case I think a condenser would be as good if not better.

Though for high SPLs and transients good dynamics certainly have their place (I have an MD441 and would certainly like to pick up one or two RE20s).

yes u are right , guessing a Vocal condenser would help this, Telefuken has good bassy vocal mic or neumann

Oktava has so many limitations that make their use unpractical for our trade. I have Oktava mics among others in my set, and quite honestly, Audix and AT are the cheapest useful ones one can get. Everything else is really unpractical and creates more issues than it solves.

I have the Sanken CS-M1 in my shopping list, it could be a good middle solution - do - it - all - run - n - gun mic.

my using exp on the CS M1  is bit hizzy on high pitch , and not really great headroom compare to dpa 4017 or Cmit. But overall worth more then the price, But would not be my primary mic

if only indoor dial , rejection is not ur 1 st thing to look in , I really like my neumann km 185 sound .
