    I'm Crushing You!
  1. Take, "Make sure you have the "timecode source" set to "LTC from channel". and have your timecode input assign to channel 4 in the patch-bay, you do NOT want to assign this timecode channel to a file." OK.. my bad. I think I DID assign it (CH 4) to a file. Oops. Am I screwed? Fortunately I am doing a hard left for the boom and hard rights for SFX direct from board to Cam A. I'm praying that much of the first day (very little in terms of dialog) will be fine. BR is largely playing the part of the digital archivist, but will definitely be called upon in post. I will click off the file assignment for Channel 4 and do what you mentioned for timecode. We are expecting real crappy weather on Thursday. Heavy rain on a tin roof does not make for a promising shoot. Stan
  2. Wow... thanks guys this is real good info. I have a good Seagate external, but it is formatted NTFS.. so I will have to dump existing files tonight and reformat for Fat32 so the Mac will be able to move stuff to it. I think the cameras are jammed to TOD for each other. I chose TOD from the BR options. Should I chose a diff source? If so.. which one? Separate folders seems to put my mind at ease in terms of data overload. I am creating a mix that has the boom (hard left) and the two boundaries (hard right) and all sent to camera A. The channels can be split and widened for stereo in post. Out put is from an Alesis Multimix 12 Firewire.. so my multichannel out is only available via the Firewire to Mac. The outs on the mixer are only left and right. The Mac has a 160Gig drive and is only using 30. I like the idea of duplicity/redundancy with the external drive.. but I honestly don't see myself reaching any limits. My files have some cryptic names like f03.11122007.1209310938.wav.... How is my director going top be able to make heads or tails out of these types of tags? Thanks for these tips gents. I'll be monitoring this thread on-set tomorrow. Peace Stan
  3. I just completed my first day with Boom Recorder. I am a little fearful of the massive amount of files being created in the folder on the desktop. 1. Should I have a new folder for each day of shooting? 2. If I get all 5 days of shooting in the same folder and "export to Final Cut Pro" will the first time Director be able to make heads or tails out of all the files and data? 3. The two HD cameras are jammed for timecode using time of day. They seem to be two minutes off of the time code I'm seeing, which appears to be reading the Mac's time and not the camera's timecode. How to I make sure BRP is jammed right along with the camera. CH 1 Boom CH 2 Boundary SFX 1 CH 3 Boundary SFX 2 CH 4 Timecode (muted from output to Camera A.. but showing up fine on Mac) I am back on set Nov 13 at 9a. Any help ASAP would be greatly appreciated. Site has WiFi so I can check on set... but I'd rather get this figured out before. Thanks
  4. Joining the Gang, I have to say... I am new to Boom Recorder and am truly impressed with both Take's accessibility and the amount of on-line community support. This will make my recommendation for purchase very easy. After I "cut my teeth" on it this next week I will undoubtedly have some questions and hopeful some answers to contribute. It's a reasonably simple shoot (1 shotgun on boom and 2 boundary mics for SFX), but my irrational fears come from my lack of time on a MAC and it's my first experience with the Alesis Multimix 12 Firewire board. Tests at the house have been favorable and problems solved quickly with help from Take. Taking the rig into the field will be exciting. More later. Stan
