  1. 7 is pretty hot for the mini tx. I am using mostly 4 for loudish and quiet actors with cos11 and b6 lavs. I set the txs around 3 the closer i get to the throat. I use 6 and 7 when phantom powering a cub or schoeps but that is only with the 2040tx. Turn the rx gain up a bit and turn the the tx down. That may help a little. Also try a few different frequencies. Sometimes there is a bit of hiss when there is to much rf in the air. Good luck!
  2. +1 for sound report writer. I am on sound roll 79 tommorrow and it's been pretty good. I prefer it to all the other options. I use an iPad on a mount from ram mount and it all works very well. Post is very happy with the reports too. Good luck! GTimmer
  3. I had this problem when I used my deva 5.8 as the master TC source. I now continuous jam my deva with my 744t's ambient timecode and all is good. I also jam the Alexa's in the morning and at lunch with an ambient clockit. No complaints from post.
  4. How about being able to email all the reports from a project at once. Or 10 at a time. Or even 5 at a time. Another thing that would be cool would be a + or - for scene and take. I know they increment if you add a take but what If I want to just advance a few takes or scenes. It would make it a little faster. So far do good otherwise. I am really liking this app. Oh one other thing. I had to purchase it twice to get it on both my iPad and iPhone. Is that right? It would nog show up in iTunes.
  5. I love it after two days of use. Post loves it too. Once it's up and running its no more data entry than the deva. I like it better than my paper reports. I am actually considering giving up my paper reports. Good app.
  6. I have been putting my entire cart on tow rigs for a while now. I hate tearing my cart apart. I tell everyone right away if there Is a tow rig shot my rig goes on the back too. I also put wires on the talent. The more crap ambience the closer I put the mic to the source. The best way to reduce noise floor is to get the mic up close and personal!!
  7. i was walking backwards on a dock with a 16 foot pole fully extended when a series of waves hit the dock. I lost my balance a bit the pole dipped a little which sent the 82 on the end wacking into Tom Berringer's head. He was good about it though. g
  8. thanks for the info gentlemen!! Richard i am not sure where we will be yet. The show i am on at the moment ends middle of December and then the surveys will begin in January for the Morocco gig. Same company and they roll over the crews generally. G
  9. Any one ever shot in Morocco? I have a show gonna happen there and i am wondering what frequencies will work. Any helpful hints about anything in Morocco? thanks!! Graham
  10. same. no website came up and my browser said it was done loading.
  11. Anyone out there using the remote audio hot strip? Just wondering what people think about the product http://www.trewaudio.com/store/product.php?productid=1017&cat=141&page=1 i am looking into a new power distro system and this one seems like a good option. Any feedback would be appreciated. thanks, Graham Timmer

Thanks, Graham
  16. This is a 2.5" long adapter to thread on to a non panamic boom pole to allow for the use of the panamic titanium tip quick release. Anyone know where I can buy one of these? There is one for sale which i have bought from Trew Audio under used /miscellaneous, but i need one more. thanks, Graham
  17. wow i got to 16k and then silence after that. sennheiser hd25-1 headphones on a pc laptop. i am 38, and i like to shoot shotguns too..
  18. i use paper tape cause i don't carry gaffers tape.
  19. i am using the 2040's with the new mini tx and have found them to be great. The 2040s are frequency agile 32 channels in each block. I have found the mini tx to have equal signal range to the regular size 2040 tx in all the tests i have performed. I am on my third feature with the mini txs and i really like them. I am interested in the zax wireless, but here in Vancouver i don't know of anyone who has them and so have never had a chance to check them out. I personally think the only weakness of the audios is that you can only change the settings on the transmitters with a fob. no manual switches. that being said the reason for this is to make the units more water 'proof'. and i did have one tx get completely submerged along with the sankin cos 11, when an actor who was fly fishing in a lake, tripped while running away from a dragon, and both tx and mic emerged in perfect working order. 20. I will brush 208 off everyday. i take apart and clean the p&gs when i notice they are a little 'sticky'. Graham Timmer
  21. Well Jeff i have done this. A friend of mine had a hard drive go down. It was his last hd all the others were full and he had not backed them up yet. I got a call saying he went to format his new hd and it was coming up with a bunch of error messages, did i have one he could borrow for a week while he waited for a new drive from Zaxcom. I sent him the drive which had approximately 45% capacity left and he used it for the week. He just renamed the available folders and away he went. No issues came up with post and he seemed to think all was well with his settings. Not a very scientific test, more trial under fire but it worked. A lesson for some as well. Always format and test your hd's before you need them. You never know what your gonna get from even the most respected sources. Damage can occur at any point in the line before it/they get to you. 22. i did a 5 week gig on the tundra one summer... you will encounter bugs the likes you have not dreamed possible. what saved my but was a bug jacket from mountain equipment co-op. bite proof weave in a cream colour with mesh on the face and big enough for your headphones under the hood.you really need one of these bug coats. i was the only one with one the first week and by the second week half the crew had ordered them. honestly worth their weight in gold out there. Original Bug Shirt Cotton Insect-Proof Shirt (Unisex) Product Number: 4001-926 http://www.mec.ca/Products/product_detail.jsp?FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302695921&PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524442585925&bmUID=1210568040927 or the home page: http://www.mec.ca/Main/home.jsp?bmUID=1210568052515 we used OFF skintastic bug spray. it worked really well although you do need to reaply a little bit more often than deet, but deet eats through its own containersa and leeks all over stuff, it is really harsh, plus you need to reapply the deet more than once a day anyway. also make sure you apply spray everywhere other than the palms of your hands and have wet wipes around just in case you do get it on you palms. oh and make sure if you get the bug coat, i swear best investment i made for keeping my sanity out there, and wear your headphones under the hood as the phones will put the front mesh close to the skin and you will get bitten like crazy, i only did that one day..... the headphones underneath help to keep the mesh out and away from your face, works great. good luck!!! Graham Timmer
  23. hey all, what is a reasonable amount of hours to have on a brand new deva 5.8 from the factory. if you look at the about deva screen it says how many hours the unit has been on for. let me know what you think. Graham
