  1. I love the RME Fireface 400. It's light, compact, can be bus powered or DC powered, sounds great, and very stable with Boom Recorder and other DAWs. It seems RME has freplaced it with the Fireface UCX which is a very similar unit with USB 2/USB3/Firewire 400. This may be worth a look.
  2. SRB's have been shipping for a few weeks now. I've got 4 of them so far.
  3. I use the Petrol Pegz-3 to hold a VRField and a Fusion 12. Plenty of room for this setup.
  4. Concerning power consumption, I was able to run my bag with the 664 phantom powering either a CMC641 or CS-3e , averaging 4-5 UCR411's, TRX900/STA100 with 2 IDX NP-L7s for a 12 hr day. There's still power to spare. According to the Remote Audio Remote Meter, this rig pulls about 0.8-0.9 Amps on average.
  5. The bag is not exactly light. With an NP-1 in it, the bag (w/o the pole) weighs in at around 18 1/2 lbs.
  6. Testing out the new bag setup on a new show.
  7. Yep. A pair of scissors would do the trick. I hesitated at first but I figure what the heck, it's only a bag.
  8. Yes just the right side of the rear cross bar. It can still be attached to the velcro. Once the zipper is up, there is enough support to where that crossbar can be omitted.
  9. Thanks to a tip from Olivier P, I was able to make the 664 fit into a Petrol PS601 by cutting the rigid section. I got 6 UCR411's, an LMA, a TRX900/STA100, NP-1, BDS in the bag. Cables are accessible but it is a tight fit. In order to remover the cards, I must unzip the back zippers which actually works fine. Best of all, it's got handles. And this is a very compact bag. Edit. This is a PS601 (equivalent of a Pegz-1)
  10. If you pre-ordered it before the price increase, your dealer should honor the old price. And BTW, it's $4595. Price went up $600.
  11. I'm going to quote this before Tom decides to delete it. In all seriousness, I think the CL6 option is worth it for the big bright meters and full size REC button even if you don't need the additional inputs. It shouldn't add that much to the weight.
  12. I had the opportunity to stop by on Friday and had a GREAT conversation with Dan. I even picked up a couple items the NY store didn't have in stock. I'm thrilled we now have a store within driving distance. Yes a 5-6 hr drive is within driving distance to me.
  13. Love the way Larry worded this! I just received an SRB a few days ago. Upon initial tests against my 411a by tuning both receivers to the same transmitter, I can comfortably say the SRB holds up VERY well against the 411a.
  14. I think there were many pre-orders placed within hours of the announcement on Sept 6th. If you placed your order 8 days after, you will probably be very far down the list. If Sound Devices haven't provided Trew with exact delivery dates, they may not be able to tell you either. Trew Audio has always had excellent customer service IMO.
  15. Rob, it would be a lot easier for a lot of us if you would just move to the USA.
  16. +1 The battery compartment is not spring loaded. You need to unscrew the knob on the left side, find your way through your input cables on the right side to locate the push rod and manually push the NP-1 out. Now if you don't push it out with enough momentum, it may not be in a position to be properly grabbed so you may need to lift the Fusion up a bit, then push the rod quickly on the other side with enough speed to spit the battery out. Once you put the new battery in, you need to close the battery compartment, screw the knob in (which doesn't latch properly to begin with) then find the push rod and push it in to achieve some tension so the battery compartment doesn't come loose. What an ingeniously crappy design! I change NP-1's on the PD-6 in 1/10 the time.
  17. At roughly $25/day and you'll probably be working very long days, that's way below minimum wage. Is this even legal?
  18. Marc, what receiver are you using? What board version and firmware version? After speaking with Lectro, it seems this issue is related to the receiver and not transmitter. If you are using UCR411 and have board version 4.xx , you may need to send in to Lectro for update. In the meantime, try bypassing the pilot tone and see if the issue goes away. But then watch out for white noise blasts when you lose range.
  19. You could also get a Rastorder Foldup cart and place your bag on it. It has room for battery, mixer/control surface boom pole holder, antenna mast holder. Best of all, it folds up and the wheels are removable. It can be very compact for traveling. It is also very light. Rob at Rastorder is a super nice guy to deal with.
  20. What receiver were you using, and what hardware/firmware version was it?
  21. That's pretty much how mine is setup. Love the Rastorder Cart.
  22. Brian, here's some of my observations concerning using a VRField in a bag. I have it in a bag but mainly rests on a cart. I have ran it over the shoulder a few times though. First, it is relatively power hungry. An NP-1 would last 3 maybe 4hrs. It has no battery level meter so you must be careful and anticipate changing batteries early to be safe. You cannot externally power it while using the internal NP-1 and do a hot swap. It is also relatively heavy and bulky in the bag. It will need a Peg-3, 603 or similar sized bag. You may be able to tightly squeeze it into a Pegz-2 but I haven't tried it. The VRField definitely take up more room than 6 UCR411s. It also gets very HOT, hot as a 788T I think!! In the summer days, the LCD would start to lose visibility as well when it gets too hot. You can use a pair of Coaxial antennas and run it along your harness. One advantage over the 411 in certain situations is it has built in antenna distro. However, I think it is a nice option to have in the event you need to move RX from cart to bag and you don't have 6 UCR411s extra for the task.
  23. Just made another donation. Thanks Jeff for the site.
  24. This issue seem to occur with both Mac and Windows version of Avid MC6. In my case, it's a Windows machine and in filmmore's case, it's a Mac. Also, as stated before, even if I only label the scene and take number to create a file name of 1T01.wav, there are issues on import into Avid MC6. So it doesn't seem to have anything to do with the filename length. On MC5, there were no issues with the 744T, 788T, nor Fusion files.
