  1. There is a party open to all NAB attendees tonight until 10:30 at the PURE nightclub at Caesar's (next to the sports book). I may try to stop by.
  2. The good news is that Avid is not going subscription ONLY. You have multiple options.
  3. This is a game changer for the audio industry! http://www.asoundeffect.com/heres-how-two-icelandic-sound-designers-could-change-sound-effects-forever/
  4. The delay is typical for a wifi connection. Rarely is it noticeable.
  5. That post is at least 15 years old. I know about that study. The thing is ALL the money that is saved comes out of the crew's pocket in the form of overtime, and most crew will not want to give up overtime money to work more days. I know it's crazy but that's how most people think.
  6. Depending on weather, Riviera is walkable. But remember you will walk several miles on the show floor. I look forward to seeing you at the RAMPS party!
  7. LVH. By far the most convenient. Walk to the show.
  8. Bring them to the RAMPS party at NAB. You will sell them all.
  9. @Arnold F. First off, his name is Senator. Second, although he can be a PITA here occasionally, he is a very experienced professional regardless of his inaccurate imdb listing. Thirdly, he has chosen a life of academia (like myself, and for better or worse) which limits his ability to continue to accrue credits. Fourth, I can attest to his CAS credentials. Finally, both he and I have the courage to post under our own names, which makes us accountable when we stay stupid things. Somehow, you are afraid to say who you really are, but think you are eligible to criticize us?
  10. Also sound editor Chuck Campbell was in the montage. He was a mentor to many of us. A total class act.
  11. +1. Also Leone recorded production sound, but used it only as a scratch track for the actors to recreate their performances.
  12. I am glad that you and the rest of the crew are well! However, I think you have to understand the level of outrage people feel over the death of a crew member, especially when it appears to have been avoidable. Some of us have been in similarly dangerous situations and it is a natural response to be outraged. Many of the comments have been based on "facts" reported in various media. We tend to forget that sometimes the media is wrong or is presenting facts out of context or too soon before the complete story can be told. I do hope that eventually there is some resolution explaining how it happened and that we can look forward to a day when events like this are unheard of.
  13. For the record, this was a union crew. The director had more than 20 years of experience. At least some of the crew had been flown in from Los Angrles. This could have happened anywhere.
  14. Sometimes they do. It would benefit you to do networking with post facilities if you want to create relationships with them.
  15. Anyone know who mixed it? Imdb has no credits.
  16. http://www.gannett-cdn.com/-mm-/72bcc59af8a0505838fe3a076c412dace9af15da/c=16-0-658-483&r=x404&c=534x401/local/-/media/USATODAY/test/2013/12/01//1385947944000-AmazonPrimeAir2.JPG
  17. Sorry for your loss Steven.
  18. Except of course that it is highly data-compressed during the streaming process. Tons of aliasing.
  19. "Up to 1536 kHz audio sample frequency for the highest audio fidelity" That is actually in the specs! It should come in handy for all the viewers he who have AM radios implanted in their heads.
  20. I joined CAS in the 90s and still have my mug. The disclaimer is not on it.
  21. There is another post like this on the FB thread. I find it incredibly unprofessional.
