  1. I always worry that password managers could themselves be passing on my passwords to their company. Instead, now I write the password down, take a picture of it and then store that in a picture safe. It feels safer, although it may not be.
  2. Timo, what's the list price for the QAPL in Germany? The only online shop I could find that lists prices has it at 79€ (incl. VAT) which is simlar to the 96$ mentioned earlier. Is that true?
  3. Why? Did your transmitters stop working today? When you bought them, did you do so on the merits of the system you knew about then, or did you hope and expect an upgrade in the future? Just because Zaxcom won't make any new LANCs doesn't mean they won't service them. They are just as good as they were yesterday. No reason to feel cheated
  4. Great ideas, Doug! Except for the name of the NeverSlate. It should slate now and then
  5. What do you do with both the CL-9 and the CL-8? Can you use bith at the same time?
  6. If the room is really quite large, the the boundary mic on the ceiling isn't going to make you happy. As I said earlier, get a few of them and spread them around on the tables.
  7. Not stereo, MS. This provides the option for post to either use it or not. And I tend to agree that in a large room this could be beneficial.
  8. Like I said, look at the polar response graphs if you want to know the rear-rejection of a mic. Cardioids don't have a rear lobe, the Sanken CS-3e appears to not have one and others, too. But this will only reduce reflections from one surface. The room will still sound echoey.
  9. While I love my Schoeps mics, they cannot reduce the echo of a room. Apart from that, I think it's more about the polar pattern than about the brand (My second senatorial reply in as many days, this is starting to worry me)
  10. No worries. No need to even read the manual. Just open the Yamaha website for the o1v and all the info re outputs (and expansion boards) is right there. Sorry, by the way, for sounding a bit Senatorial. That wasn't my intention.
  11. Yes, I heard that about the NTG-3, too, but I'm not certain. By the way, not all Sennheiser mics are rf mics. I think it only applies to the MKH series. The K6/MExx pictured above is not part of that
  12. In your case as well as the OP's case a simple visit to the respective manufacturers websites would provide the answers. I promise, you can find both answers in under 50 seconds
  13. Just to un-confuse (defuse???) me, you mean "less than" right?
  14. There is a link to an excel file somewhere on this forum which was meant as the ultimate frequency list. It contains many countries by now. I don't know the link, though.
  15. You can probably learn everything you need to know about timecode on these pages (remember for your search that it's often abbreviated to TC), but a book is what the OP was asking for. I have seen and read a few books which talk about timecode, but they usually focus on definition, types and differences. There is rarely any practical advice. Senator, you might know a book or two?
  16. Yes, the 744T is a very good choice. Just a quick note/question re: USB-2: it needs power from a USB port to operate, but could this also come from the USB port that, for example, the Remote Audio BDS can provide?
  17. What's the seating arrangement in the room? A couple of boundary layer mics could work well are not intrusive at all.
  18. what's that supposed to mean? "Even"? I have previously agreed with so many others. Even you! Once or twice

    MKH-50

I'm not so sure about this. I'm assuming he's talking about a deposit of [water/moisture/dirt/whatever] forming on the capsule which is a valid concern which could be discussed. The interesting Sennheiser doc seems to imply (or boldly state) that moisture is no problem, but they don't mention dirt or even a lot of moisture. Or do they? I didn't have time to read it all yet. Anyway, I could be way off. Senator?
  20. I have never interfered with a focus puller, but I've only had the IFB100 for a few months. Have you tried changing the frequency? That could help. Luckily not all focus pullers are wireless yet
  21. Ona cart you could use the Sennheiser IEM 300 system. It's a two-channel tx/rx system. The tx is rackmount though.
  22. Yes, amplifying the IFB100 is a must. I have simply bought a 14dBi gain antenna which I put on my antenna mast. So far it's working quite well. But what you're asking has been answered thouroughly in those threads you're referring to. I would say that the situation is the same with the QRX100 with IFB option.
  23. I think you need to narrow down your requirements/wishes first. You are looking for a field recorder, but you'll consider a computer with an interface, too. That's a very long list of options you're opening up here. Even with regards to the field recorder you've only said better than your Zoom, but cheaper than 2500,-. Still a long list of many very different devices. Once you've narrowed it down a bit, perhaps then someone can help you with the choice.
  24. No. I think he was saying that it doesn't matter which connection on the Zoom you use, it's still a Zoom
