  1. Hey folks. If you have heard rumors that D.W. sound Service was dead and buried, please

don't believe everything you have heard. To prove that we are alive and well, we will be attending

NAB this year. I hope to be able to meet up with as many of you as possible on Tuesday night.

And for those of you who will not be attending, please contact us at (888) 259-4684, or

    e-mail at service@dwsoundservice.com.

  2. D.W. Sound Service will be closed until Thursday, April 10, so that we can attend NAB in Vegas. When we return, we will have some operational changes that will allow me to have more availability to our clients, have be able to get your equipment turned around faster. We also have a few meetings set up in Vegas with several Mfg's, to work out details For us to service their equipment. I look forward to seeing those of you that plan on attending NAB.

    Hi Dave,
RAMPS/JWS is a labor of love and there are some really important people involved with this project. If you can do it gratis or even donate to the cause, we can get you some good contacts in the MC'ing world. The next time we do this with a real budget, we will be able to pay you not just one but two full size tuna subs. Plus we will be filming this with an actual Bell and Howell 8mm camera because nothing looks as good as real film.
    Best,
    Larry F

I think we might be able to afford a Tuna Sub this year. April is Tuna Sub month at Subway. They have a special on Tuna all month.

      Should go without saying.

But, It does not always go without saying. The example I used in the above post is only one of many I have seen in my 20+ years in this business. And when this does happen, it is always a major repair, if the equipment can be repaired at all.

  5. Jack,

I understood exactly what you meant by A/C. Your description is what was bothering me. All you did was say A/C. In the world of electronics A/C mean exactly that, Alternating Current, usually 120V 60hz. A/C could also be mean a step-down transformer/adapter, which supplies between 10-24V AC. Either of these are bad news to a piece of equipment that is looking for DC. Just recently, I had a customer who tried to power their Lectro receiver with an AC adapter, instead of a DC adapter. It was a costly repair. I was trying to get you to be a little more specific in your description, to make sure you were not thinking about making the same mistake. So, as you can see, it is very relevant.

  6. The reason I asked what he meant by A/C is that I have seen those in the past who have plugged their equipment into 120V 60hz A/C.

The outcome is pretty ugly, but, you will have quite a spectacular show, for a couple of seconds. It may sound like a stupid comment, warning end users not to plug this equipment straight into 120V, but past experience has shown me that it does happen.
