  1. Direct connection to bag will be fine. No one will figure it out next to bunch of dangling cables.
  2. I agree with you Philip! While my first impression is "how cool lookin!" after some time of use, dark back ground doesn't make it easy to read and work with. I personally find myself running Logic for a light, fast post work otherwise I start with PT if I know I'll be there for a while. Which is a weird instinct that I have to admit! cause Logic doesn't open Poly files and I have to go through Wave Agent, etc... Anyways, I believe once the files are imported both can handle a complicated post session.
  3. I purchased a Sennheiser MKH 416 as a backup from eBay (price was great) and A/B'd to my current one. Its ABSOLUTELY fake. About sound; Nothing close to original! I mean Nothing! Sounds like a $10 radioshack mic with no sound reduction. Harsh. My backup Sennheiser me66 sounds like a Schoeps in comparison. Any physical difference? I honestly can't tell other than the tip of the windscreen which is cut and it's definitely different looking than my original 416 windscreen. (Attached a photo of this. Windscreen on the left is my long time used 416 screen and the one on the right with darker color and cut tip is belongs to the fake one.) Seller refunded immediately right after I sent a message saying that it's fake and asking for full refund. It came with free shipping originally and seller sent me $80 on top of refund for return shipping and bunch of sorry, etc.... What a nice guy!!! This is disgusting! It already sucks that there are many fake SM57/58 around but 416 ???? (I won't be surprised if I see a fake schoeps one day!!) I believe it will help others so I'm attaching the screen shot of the seller's response and some links to some other mics from China on eBay which I'm 99% sure that they are all fake cause info, description and photos are EXACTLY the same. WHAT CAN WE DO to stop this ASAP? Does anybody know how vendors can be informed as fast as possible? I'm worried cause if we're not fast and stop the spread of those fake ones in the market, one day we'll start to sell each other the fake ones cause there are just too many of them around. (Well, we'll hear the sound once it's shipped to us but I don't think it is fun to be known as that "x" person selling fake stuff "by mistake" cause they didn't know it.) Please spread the word. I'll let pro-sound, NY know about it so they mention this to their people, sound professionals and customers. 4. Both Amazing photos from Vasileios and Vincent
  5. Vincent, you know that your photos are considered legendary material in Turkey right now. Right? THANK YOU! THANK YOU! and THANK YOU! for taking a risk and documenting what major media can't. I have been at Zuccotti Park at manhattan all day yesterday, protesting. Today with my wife we were in Time Square protesting all day. (illegally) My brother is at Cihangir, Istanbul since the first day. He is helping providing medicine, gas masks, etc... to people between Taksim and Cihangir. I wish you the best And I'm EXTREMELY honored that a non-Turkish colleague of mine is there and documenting for the world. PLEASE BE CAREFUL!

  9. What a great share. Just got back home from a wrap and reading this gave me a smile
  10. +1 So, let's talk about; How could we approach to the productions that this (CGI for mic removal) becomes a norm eventually? Where do we start? and in what level we could apply this to lower budgets productions? perhaps for the key scenes (?) or is it for all types of productions in the first place? (p.5 at http://www.695quarterly.com/695QuarterlyPDFs/695-Quarterly-2013-Spring.pdf unless you haven't read it yet.)
  11. I have been using 8 of; http://www.batterymart.com/p-r-li9720-9volt-lithium-polymer-battery.html?device=c&network=g&matchtype=&gclid=CPTYqp-D-LYCFYHc4AoduA0Aug for almost 4-5 months. They last really long time. Still no failure, etc... I took their outside sticker and they kind of fit to iPower caddy. (I use iPower 4 bay charger with them)
  12. Jeff, watching the scene and thinking about the conditions, setups you're mentioning.... I truly respect your work! Amazing. It makes me feel incredibly excited! Thank you for sharing!
  13. This looks fantastic! Very good work Pascal!
  14. Hi guys, thanks for the kind words! really! I'll try to share more info regarding what I have used and how I soldered. Basically for Neutricons; A) Used colored BSP colored root (made for 1/4"). They wouldn't work with a thick cable so I needed two steps. 1- take the inside plastic section out (some ring inside holds the piece together) 2- Gently cut the end hole to a bigger hole with a X-acto blade/knife so Mogami 2931 can slide through. B ) I used all 8 connections. My center connection was ground. I haven't used numbering. Basically relied on the shapes labeled on the Neutrik FI-8 and MI-8's. I soldered only the center (ground) wire to the pin before I mount it to the FI-8 or MI-8. I figured 2 things. 1- If I solder the rest unmounted, it was harder for me to mount later. Cables overlapped. 2- If I did presolder, lengths vary and I didn't like that. I wanted them to go straigt down, no bulkiness, so I had room to cut and adjust the length of each cable. Maybe a hair thick cuts sometimes. (It's a little crazy sounding maybe but I wanted it to look like an art work.) For cam/mixer ends: A) Cut the Mogami 2931 jacket out. insert TechFlex. Insert Canare CB05 to cover your cut point. B ) insert heat shrink cable sleeves (will go under connectors). For female headphone ends get the male 1/8" extension cable going same way using Techflex. Insert Canare CB4 as your female Headphone connector sleeve. Insert Canare CB3 as your BNC (B-RAQ) sleeve. Shrink the heat shrink sleeves with heatgun/hair drier. Standard work for XL ends. For 1/4" connector I used two Canare CB05. I cut head of one of them and inserted opposite way to give a better look. I'm very humbled with kind words and thank you for suggestions and overall help that I get from this community almost everyday! Engin
  15. Hi guys, I make my own cables and this is my first ENG cable. Freshly soldered and wanted to share! I basically LOVE remote audio cables but I couldn't find one with the specs I want and also wanted to challenge myself a little bit... (not for profit or resale,etc...) Also I want to thank to all the people who have posted information in the group, Eric Toline for his length suggestions and challenge warning (definitely took it into account!) and of course to Remote Audio. They make some great products! Here we go: Cable: 2 short break away units (1.5' each ends) and 2 long center units for different applications (22' and 10' (not photographed yet)) Connectors: 2 XLR outs, 2 ta3f ins, 1/4 TC in, BNC TC out, and Headphone in/out both ways. </p> <p></p> <p></p> <p>
  16. Hi again and I want to thank EVERYONE who responded and guided me with their knowledge! I truly appreciate it! What a welcoming family. I also have received a PM offering a meet up. Couldn't make it but still! It just doesn't get any better than that! I couldn't respond earlier because of some little problems such as loosing my iphone charger cable, having limited access to internet and taking my time with my wife... so after all my "Thanks!" is a little late. Sorry!! My first impression of LA is; Amazing place!! What a gorgeous weather, wonderful beaches, streets, hills, smiles, homes, mountains, trees, trees and more incredible trees!... and many other things that just shocked me! (in a great way). Loved Basin AND Valley... Downtown, Venice, Echo Park, Pasadena, Sherman Oaks... One thing I definitely figured out is that LA people takes their city as granted a little bit. I'm originally from Istanbul and have been in/around NYC for 8-9 years. Well... I need to say that you (LA) guys live in a place that's incredibly special. I also sensed "that" valley vs basin thing from people. It was my first time driving through Sherman Oaks, and Studio City after my first 4-5 days around Silverlake/Venice and I just couldn't stop smiling thinking people actually comparing "this" to the other side of the mountain??? It's like, Zaxcom vs SD game Come onnn people!!! Both sections are amazing!!! I mean it's like heaven man! (written from my small, cold, "facing bunch of warehouse walls" NY apartment, after 1 hr of subway drive (worth 15 mins. actually but endless weekend constructions!!.) around rats and with strong urine smell so... you got the idea!) YES! NY still offers a lot! but not the most attractive nor healthiest place if you ask me. So, I understand that it comes down to preference and yes! that's what I learned from my great 9 days trip as well. But the most amazing thing was; many times I found my self thinking "life is beautiful man!" Southern California effect??? I guess after this point, NY is still fine and I mostly find myself thinking "life is fast! run my friend, run!" or "Can't wait to do better here and leave to get an actual house and life!" Unfortunately it feels like many other NYers thinks that way too which is absolutely not fair to the place feeds us. Engin

    Where in LA?

Hi LA folks, I just got to LA and I'm absolutely brand new to the area. I have some time and I want to check and see the place as much as I can so my question is; What part of LA might be a good idea to move into "IF" the focus was ONLY being in the most convenient location for most non-union sound mixer/recordist gigs. I'm aware that it will be a relative question in some sense however since I don't know anything about LA I wouldn't want to move somewhere that I might have a hard time reaching production houses, overall gigs, etc... If anyone is around and wants to meet up (even for a short time) I really would love to! thanks Engin
  18. I sent an email to Markertek 10 days ago regarding the regular ta5f connectors and called the customer service 2 days ago. Basically they got my number and told me that they will call back and let me know. No email or phone replies so far. Don't get me wrong. I like them and have been shopping from them for a while but what's up with non-replying customer service???
