My approach to soldering 3-pin Lemo/ODU connectors is to slip a folded piece of Kapton tape between the pin i am soldering and the other two. And of course, a dual microscope! To hold the connector itself - a pencil eraser - push the pins in. the cable, secure it temporarily with some blu-tack an inch away from the wires to be soldered. A bit of jugglery and you can get both the pin and the wire in place. cheers -vin

I believe a CONN-BOX 5 pin XLR will have to be fitted into the WS2 kit for the CMS50.

I have the same question!

I am so glad to hear this! Have been worried about him, and since he is off the net, no news at all until you have met him. -vin

I have never faced a problem with gound loops in ~20 years using quality gear and of course i build my own cables. the VLock battery is not the issue here, which is why i highlighted just the two pieces of gear you are using that i firmly think is the root of the problem.

I would recommend a very tiny drop of Loctite (temporary hold version) to solve this problem.

the trouble is here imho. Both products not professionally manufactured, hence can be problematic. the RF distro is a blatant copy of the PSC unit. if you can, please borrow the following and try with the same cables etc, everything else the same. I can bet your problem will vanish. PSC or equivalent Power distro PSC RF Multi cheers -vin

not just this PSC unit, but i have heard about sharkfin antennas also copied, seems it is the Shure ones. Some people here bought it (thinking they were getting a good deal) and it did not work too well for them. Apart from these, even the Sanken COS11 had been copied and made available on aliexpress kind of sites. -vin

Mogami 2893 - If the length is short i dont think it will make a difference with AES signals. You have to try it out, I have not used it for AES so far. Also 4.8Ø (0.189") OD Mogami W2893 could be considered... One way of fitting larger OD cables in a TA5 (Neutrik Rean) is to trim the chuck from the top by a few mm with a pair of snippers to accomodate a thicker cable. I have done this many times. cheers, -vin

from my experience, definitely worth it. cheers -vin

<It's about mastering the craft, adapt to situations, not the equipment.> It is both. Even the most experienced sound pro cannot make GREAT sound with substandard equipment. There is no magic involved here. cheers -vin

dust on capsule / electronics issue both require a trip to the factory.

my X2 is still going strong from 2007...

So sorry to hear this! Then the solution is ChipQuik!
-
Hello Wyatt it is exactly because of these multiple connection points (one is signal and the others are all ground/chassis legs) that it is cutting off the legs is the best way. Even chip-quik would be complicated because of dual side solder points and also the distance between the solder point makes chip-quik not a real solution here... cheers, -vin

wonderful... Apropos getting those SMA connectors off - imho the best way is to use a clipper and cut off the legs soldered to the board. and then desoldering those pieces of metal off the board one by one becomes very easy. cheers, -vin

We have used 2 x 742 Tx with QRX200 and SuperCMITs for some years, from 2015... No issues. cheers -vin

At what cable length are 110Ω relevant for AES(42) transmissions?
vin replied to DanieldH's topic in Technical Reference
I have used standard star quad (belden canare gotham) for years with my SuperCMITs with no issues. no special reason for the star quad except that those were my cables for analog mics. cheers, -vin
