I am a sound supervisor and re-recording mixer for feature films and occasionally TV movies. I come more from the studio environment, beeing a feature film re-recording mixer for several years, then a supervising sound editor for several features and then taking on resposibility for the whole film sound production cycle.

  1. Many thanks, MattiaCellotto! Very useful info!
  2. I own my Fusion 12 since February 2013 and as far as I know there's absolutely no way to use the Fusion's onboard knobs to control analog input trim of the recorder. They either work as faders after AD conversion, or can control analog input trim on remote Zaxcom transmitters/recorders via wireless Zaxnet. The only way to get tactile control of Fusion's trims is to attach an external Zaxcom control surface, which, I guess, is not convenient in SFX recording scenarios. I just use the touch screen trims.
  3. What issues did you encounter with Mixpre 10 T in the ultrasonic range? I'm really interested, because I wanted to buy it as a second recorder specially for an FX recording rig.
  4. dmitri- You seem to be beating the listed specs with those batteries... wow. I have not done any tests at 250mw The batteries were brand new though. I charged them with a Powerex charger at softcharge.
  5. Recently I used Sanyo Eneloop XX 2400mAh in SMQV at 250mW and at temperatures around minus 30 Celsius (minus 22 Fahrenheit). Generally six hours.
  6. +1 for Soundminer. Can't imagine editing FX and BGs without it. Miniminer does not include metadata editing.
