  1. I just got an 8060 from my Sennheiser sales rep to test out. It is a great sounding mic. More crisp and less wooly than the MKH60. I'm not sure about the lab tests, but it is a fine sounding mic. I'd consider buying one (if I needed a new shotgun mic), but I already have a couple of MKH60's AND all of the shockmounts, zeppelins, & Rycotes to go along with them. "Upgrading" to an 8060 from an MKH60 means you'll have to get new shockmounts, windscreens, etc. Kinda like "upgrading" your computer with a new operating system. You'll also need to upgrade a bunch of other software as well... Steve Wytas www.audio911.com

    Film is dead?

This is the same argument that the horse and buggy industry had versus the automobile. Analog vs. digital anyone?? http://www.independent.co.uk/arts-entertainment/films/news/film-is-finished--this-could-be-its-last-oscars-8508257.html Steve Wytas www.audio911.com
  3. The Sennheiser 9k system will cost you about $100k... I can put you in touch with a friend that is a sales manager at Sennheiser. He can split the commission on the system with me. I'd be very happy!!! Steve Wytas www.audio911.com
  4. Nice job. I wish TC Buddy would add a slate to their line of products.... Steve Wytas www.audio911.com
  5. Two is one and one is none, and three is a guarantee (although very expensive)... Steve Wytas www.audio911.com
  6. If digital audio doesn't exist in two places, it doesn't exist... Steve Wytas www.audio911.com
  7. I also like to say "It looks like it sounds good..." Great replies on this topic!!! I'd like to see a confidence mode on the 664 too! Steve Wytas www.audio911.com
  8. It's not 3 3/4ips or 7 1/2 ips anymore. So, when we say "Sound has speed!", what is the speed? Is it based on the recorder, the CF card, the hard drive, MBs per second divided by track count, bit depth, and sample rate? We can't say "Rolling!" anymore either....Ugh! 9. Try this set up: http://jwsoundgroup.net/index.php?/gallery/image/856-sennheiser-skp300/ Steve Wytas www.audio911.com
  10. I'm in Connecticut, I'd love to find out what the production is. I'd take the job and show up with 8 Shure SM57s without the XLR cables attached, and say "here ya go, they're wireless!!!!" Steve Wytas www.audio911.com
  11. Good idea to keep a handful of 1/8" TRS to 1/8" TS adapters hanging around. The 1/8" connector should go the way of the floppy disk... Steve Wytas www.audio911.com
  12. I bet the SmartLav was not used anywhere in their promotional video... Steve Wytas www.audio911.com
  13. A Tascam HD-P2 recorder isn't bad (but it isn't good either) cheap on ebay, and add a used Shure FP-33... Both use off the shelf batteries (AA & 9v)... Steve Wytas www.audio911.com
  14. I purchased a keyboard for my 664, but you should learn the joystick function (leaning to drive a stick shift before a standard). Here is the keyboard I have. It works pretty good and fits in the Porta Brace Bag for the 664: http://www.amazon.com/GMYLE-Super-Keyboard-Windows-Vista/dp/B003PHJJV6/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=2LOX372SMM78F&coliid=I2CAX9PVB4WC2M

    Lav color

I have a bunch of Countryman B6 mics in TV Grey. They hide nicely on white shirts or any other light colored clothing. Also, the grey cable doesn't read under light colored clothing like a black cable. Colored paper tape or white tape with some colored sharpies also helps...
  18. Still waiting for a firmware update that will allow this unit to be directly connected to a laptop for file xfer or as an audio interface for other software. And it could be a great headphone amp for my laptop during a lunch break!!!
  19. I asked for specs on the SD Forum page. Thanks for the advice....
  20. Do the "usual suspects" carry knobs for mixers??? Maybe I have to source from a manufacturer. I'd probably have to purchase a minimum of 100...
  21. Any suggestions from ANYONE except Senator Mike???
  22. Has anyone swapped out the faders on their 664 with different knobs? I'd like something like the Mix Pre-D knobs, but a little bigger and more tactile than the current aluminum style on the 664. Any suggestions?
  23. Just got my 664 bench tested this week. Lives in a Porta Brace bag. I like it, lots of room for WL receivers, Batteries, etc. I can even fit my mini keyboard in the bag! Sound Devices 664 with Lectros, TC Buddy, Battery Buds, and slate. The system is in a new Porta Brace bag designed for the 664. The bag has lots of room for WL receivers, NP1 batteries, etc. I use one battery for the Lectros and another battery for the 664 and TC Buddy. Both batteries are distributed by separate Battery Buds.
  24. Chris W, where did you purchase the 9V to Hirose adapter box?
