    RIP Eric Toline

Eric was an invaluable colleague, I learned a lot with him, I don’t remember if my firsts exchange were in CAS forum, or later in Ramps, great humor, what a peety.
  3. Hi, Thanks for your replies Vincent and Jeff, no, i was not thinking about cinela. I was thinking at one comment you made some time ago Jeff: here: Posted March 21, 2013 "I feel, mainly from listening over the last month with each, that the LEO has a more natural sound and matches the microphone with only a foam screen." I'm glad you finally said that --- I would have been very surprised if you felt that the Rycote Ball Gag sounded the same as the Cinela. The beauty of the Cinela windscreens, for me, has been the minimal affect on how the microphone sounds in the windscreens. I have not found any other windscreen (other than the ones that Don Coufal has built over the years) where the microphone sounds the same in and out of the windscreen. So the phrase: "(other than the ones that Don Coufal has built over the years)" let me very curious about these, and i would like to see some pictures if someone has a unit...
  4. Hello all. I was reading here, about Don Coufal, mostly Jeff Wexler comments. I'm very curious about his windsceens, how they looked, as Jeff said they was very transparent. If someone knows any Don Coufal anecdotes, i'll be glad to hear them. If any has pictures of his windscreens, or comments, welcome! Thanks Fabian
  5. that's a nice service
  6. Hello, all. Has someone tried with success, the Sennheiser and lectro compatibility? Does it sounds good? With what lectros tx's? and senns? Thanks for your comments! Fabian
  7. Hi, thanks Turi. i think it can be cool to be able to upload to a day folder, into different sub folders ( one for each recorder) so if you use more than one recorder at same time, or if you are working in two or more units, all the job keeps organised.
  8. Hello all. i was thinking about to do a diy cable replacement in one of my Cos 11. someone has try to do that? I’ve seen some pictures of dismantled cos 11, but my main concern is if the lower part of the capsule ( under the rubber protection) has the solder points exposed. any tip in the soldering process? i know Wilcox repair them, but I want to try. any advice on the cable type? Any experience with Mogami W2901. All comments about lavalier cable replacement is welcome. Thanks! Fabian
  9. Thanks Cujo to share your experience, and test.
  10. I don't know how you power it, but 2X 18650 batteries, in an enclosure can do the trick, what's your power solution for the Papi?
  11. I'm interested on this answer too, I don't know if just SD-MM1, but any good pre
  12. Hi, I'm using UH400 from Lectro. seems that the better will be, a good preamp with clean 48V ph, good analog to digital converter, digital transmission, and AES to the recorder..... I don't have any zaxcom here to try... anyway, despite that is obvious that a plug on is the simplest way to go, we can agree that even if the boom op has a pair of light boxes in the belt, he continue to be free....
  13. Hi, I have 2 CMC6 + 2CMC4 +2 MK41+1 MK4 and 1 MK8 My fist stereo matched pair was the CMC6's in 1996. They worked on all my films. I have a Newman 82, and I don't have and want nothing between them. In 2008, I was 50 days in Amazonia, in a doc, I bring there 2 schoeps, and a Dynamis mic + some wireless. I use just one of them, and has never had a problem. Just one capsule 41, has has a problem in all these years ( a used one I bought with a CMC4) and went to Germany ( 80 U$S invoice). I make some films in Brazil, even in the north east ( Recife) , lots of dust and high humidity. In my experience, they are rock solid. here 2 pictures, Amazonia sunrise ( see the humidity), and the boom in the wet floor.....
  14. Hi all. Just thinking again. Today I was listening different preamplifiers, cabled, with a schoeps. Each has a different color, and personality. Pushing this differences forward, I start to thinking again about wireless booms. I know this subject was afforded so many times, but well, here I try to be reaaaaaly rigorous. I don't want to loose depth, I don't want to have a noisier floor. I want to be able to record very quiet sounds, with detail, and sharpness. I know, to have the same dynamic is not easy, but forget the situation where someone is whispering, and then yelling, but I want to be able to record whispers with transparency. Transients are another big deal.... Last november I recorded a film in Bolivia, very quiet locations. Very. No insects, no birds, plains, nothing. The interior location was a mud house, thatched roof, wood furniture. I went cabled, schoeps, Newman, straight to the Cantar. It was very nice. So, what is the best system available today? Plug on?, power supply+TX ? Manufacturer and model? Thanks for your opinions. I use mainly wireless booms this days, but maybe I'm missing the best available. Bolivia, imagine the silence, and how it can sound.
  15. Hi all. Nerd question. i was thinking how many actuations can handle the SD card system of a recorder before it start to fail. 1. Fail in the mechanic lock-release 2. Fail in the contact points. it feels so delicate.....
  16. Hi, i remember some years ago, SD image, one baloon on each side and a cat5 cable. How you resolve today with HD-SDI connectors?
  17. Good news. Thanks again Larry!, fast like a lightning. 😀
  18. Hi, just changing my cart setup. Is there any problem if i cross ( physical contact) antenna cables with 12V power ones?
  19. Hi, well, just to exchange thoughts about camera and sound trucks. Where I live, sound, camera, and DIT, we are all in the same truck ( for standard series, films). Layouts are the more or less the same. At the left wall, in the middle shelves. At the right side: Magliners. Center: corridor. Hidraulic back to lift, door in one side with little ladder For two cameras series or films, DIT have his business in the front part ( not the cab, ja!) , camera in the middle, and sound in the back. We share an area to charge batteries, in the sound-camera frontier. Sound blankets horizontals above the cart, in some custom supports. Backpacks are always a problem, worst if it's winter and mud... All in all, it works. Floor is cold for the winter nap, so a mat or foam pad is a must, for summer is fine. I don't have pictures now, but do you want to jump and share your experiences and pictures? I'll try to find one Fabian
  20. Thanks again Larry for your advice and information!
  21. Hello all. I wanted to confirm, if Lectros SMV's 1 and 2nd gen, just differs in the 250 mw, recording option and wide band for the 2nd edition? Sound quality is the same for both? Service repair too? Does both sound ok with the 200 series in the compat mode?, i mean at least as a UM200C or better? Thanks you all for your replies! Fabian
  22. Thanks Larry and all for the contribution to this thread, i've learned a lot ! Fabian
  23. Thanks all for your replies, and information! BAB414, what shark fins are you using? How many feet run you can do without using powered antennas?, i know it's a difficult question, but ... Thanks again!!
